Secretly (English title: Therese or In Secret ) is a drama American – Hungarian – Serbian , co-produced, co-written and directed by Charlie Stratton , releasedin the United States 1 . The film is directly inspired by the book Thérèse Raquin by Emile Zola .

Synopsis

Thérèse Raquin is the daughter of an Algerian woman and a captain of the French army. Her father entrusts her to her aunt, Madame Raquin, who lives in France and who, little by little, pushes the girl to marry Camille, her sick son.

After some time of a busy life holding a small shop, Thérèse meets one of her husband’s old friends, Laurent, and then becomes in love with him. When M me Raquin invite friends to play dominoes. Therese and Laurent slip away and make love. Their passion is growing. From then on, the lovers hatch a plan to get rid of the bulky husband.
