The Trench ( The Trench ) is a war film Franco – British directed by William Boyd released in 1999 .

Synopsis

The film portrays the lives of English soldiers in the trenches of the First World War. This film paints the management of boredom, fear, panic and agitation. Billy MacFarlane ( Paul Nicholls ), 17, with his older brother, Eddie ( Tam Williams ), volunteered for the service. Billy was not going to get involved but knowing that his brother was engaged, he decided to follow him. The entire pack, each of them in their late teens, is under the responsibility of a sergeant ( Daniel Craig ) and a lieutenant ( Julian Rhind-Tutt ).
