For the utmost zombie/Gore fans, although I though the film did lack major acting skills and wasn't really anything more than a bloodfest! Still enjoyed it but overall 2/5 on my list.

28 days all the way. 28 weeks is good but lacks realism which 28 days had in spades. Carlyle was its only saving grace. : )

Jaun Carlos Fresnadillo is no week link.

Danny Boyle succeeded in creating a horror film of a different nature in 28 Days Later, but when the days become weeks and Jaun Carlos Fresnadillo takes over the direction for 28 Weeks Later, can Fresnadillo complete with Bolye's work or it is just another cash in?

Set 28 weeks after the infection first stranded (the last scene which we see in 28 Days is only 5 weeks into the infection), the American's have now moved in and cleansed Britain. They are repopulating it with survivors; it is already populated with around 17,000 people. The area is a section of London that has been set up to begin bringing people back into England, it has running water, 24 hour electricity and food for all, however on ever roof top are army patrol guards, with sniper rifles. They are boarded but constantly virulent in case any kind of the infection should surface again, and they are ready to deal with it.

28 Weeks has some bold plotting, especially with Don's character played by Robert Carlyle, who grows up on screen and become a more serious actor in 28 Weeks. Don is a demanding character and to see Carlyle handle it is a treat. The rest of the cast are mostly unknowns, which works in the films favor, it adds an edge of realism to Weeks. It's another layer to making the movie seem like it could really happen.

I don't care who you are, there is something haunting about the image of London's streets being fire bombed, totally destroyed in every way, watching innocent people be incinerated is disturbing. But that's what Weeks aims for, it wants to disturb us, and it succeeds. The most disturbing of images is the very last one that we see of the movie, and it stays with you, perfect film making.

Weeks has a different feel to it overall then Days did, probably down to the change in director and writers. As appose to Danny Boyle's reserved usage of infected, and his general feeling of madness in other humans, which he tags with the feeling of isolation and fear. Fresnadillo concentrates on a more traditional approach to horror with the continual threat of doom constantly hounding the survivors; Fresnadillo also replaces madness with panic. Both switches are needed for the movie to be a film in it's own right and not just a rip off of Days.

Fresnadillo does understand the power of fear just like Boyle, he shocks us into paying attention with a frantic opening sequence and then deliberates and holds back for a full 40 minuets till the infection rises again. This sort of reserve to not just make a frenzied horror movie shows class and Fresnadillo has that is spades.

28 Weeks Later is not a cash in. Weeks is a movie that neither tries to reinvent the idea of the first movie or condemn it; it only takes what we knew from Days and creates another story with the same format. Jaun Carlos doesn't change how the virus is compared to Days, but he does heave a strong enough voice in his directing style to make the film distinctly his own.

Fresnadillo succeeds in making a horror film that is different to the original without undermining it in any way. Congratulations.

I personally think its the better film of the two. It gave me that 28 Days Later kind of missed out on which was the super gore fun that a zombie movie needs.

This movie just killed me. I can't get over how crazy it was, how good it was, and how amazing it has changed my on look on movies. I would want to see a 28 months later, but I think it would kill the series, then again, you can always go straight to video to avoid killing the series. IDK it was an amazing sequal

A fantastic zombie thriller that is equally as good as the original with one of the most intense opening scenes I have ever had the pleasure of viewing.

Thoroughly enjoyable as a stand alone film, Carlyle's performance was outstanding. However as a sequel I felt it fell short of its awesome sibling when it introduced gun-ho' US soldiers. Seems like this should have been predicted as the British soldiers in days was probably the weakest part of that amazing film.
