C is for A Cinderella Story.
Sam Montgomery (Hilary Duff) is just another typical SoCal high-schooler: lost her dad in an earthquake, works hard at home, at work, and at school, and dreams of nothing more than going to Princeton, "where the princes and princesses go". But no fairy tale is complete without a prince, here played by Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), the local dream guy, football captain, and closet sensitive soul. I would argue that no fairy tale is complete without a jester (role filled by Dan Byrd as Sam's adorable platonic friend Carter) and a villain (here, Sam's wicked step-mother, played by Jennifer Coolidge). All the elements are in place for this modern-day fairy tale, from the perfect rendezvous at the homecoming dance to public embarrassment to a romantic ending at a high-school football game. If it weren't so predictable, it might almost be good.
There isn't much to say about the cinematic merits of this film. It is thoroughly watchable and completely forgettable. Cute, light, with moderately important life messages delivered in a spunky voice and with a few moments of slapstick. The plot is trite for the most part, and the acting, directing, cinematography, and music are neither inspired nor inspiring.
Overall, it's exactly what you'd expect for a high-school flick. Not bad, not good, some fun moments.

One of my favourite movies. Hilary Duff is a great actress and when teamed with Chad Michael Murray you can't go wrong.

I would rather not say much but what i will say is. Hilary Duff sucks as an actress. I try to keep my reviews professional but nothing about this movie is professional. Not the acting, not the script, and especially not the characters. although taken roughly and emphasis on roughly, from cinderella this movie makes a mess out of it therefore leaving me to wish i never saw it.

Bad acting from the lead actress (Duff) makes this movie unbearable to watch. Cheesy storyline and the over-the-top attempt to make a classic fairytale fit to the modern times - a film that only girls in their early teens may fully enjoy.

It's common to see films take a well known and loved fairy tale and put it in the modern day. A Cinderella Story suffers from being way too generic, poorly acted and nothing less than predictable.
