I know this indie will not be for everyone but I just had to check it out for colin farrell and he truly delivers a fine tender performance. It is probably his most tender performance next to the new world. of course compared to that this is much edgy but there is so much unspoken in his eyes -sadness mixed with shyness about his new understanding of things going on around him. it is as if you are discovering things along with him. he even makes the love scene betwen him and robin wright penn seem so raw and sensual yet painful for him all at the same time that you almost want to look away. it that one scene alone it clears away his previous performances as tough characters and you can just tell that he let robin lead him in that scene. yeas it is sad and a bit shocking in parts but for his performance alone I recommend this scene. you may be holding your breath in the love scene just like I was for his sake!

One of the saddest movies that will make you feel better, well calmer at least, but it's undeveloped, characters are undefined, but aren't we all like that?... it's not great artistic experience, but it definitely contains some truthfulness. and i was in hippie mood for over an hour which led me to put some flares on, and that made me feel old.

I loved the tenderness and sweetness of this movie. I loved Colin Farrell in this. I wanted to adopt or date him he was so sweet. The characters were very original, interesting and multi faceted. I am still thinking about a couple things and wonder what they meant. It is one of those movies that keep you thinking.

Colin Farrell was absolutely brilliant. This was years before he was best man at his older gay brothers wedding and Colin shows that a real man isn't afraid of kissing another man. He is Irish and I am glad that the homophobia that is prevalent in this country didn't diminish his performance here. The whole cast was superb in telling this story. :fresh:

A Home at the End of the World (2004) - "Little kiss between brothers... nothing wrong with that." - Bobby

Bobby and Jonathan love the same woman, and each other. All three try to find a way to make a life together.

A tricky story, "Home" is based on an early novel by Pulitzer prize-winning author Michael Cunningham. Robin Wright Penn, Dallas Roberts, Sissy Spacek, and Colin Farrell play the lead characters; the acting is more natural than I thought possible for such an unusual story, which had a surprising impact on me. Five minutes after the movie had ended, I discovered that I missed every one of them!

This is a story that chronicles a dozen years in the lives of two best friends who couldn't be more different. From suburban Cleveland in the 60s, to New York City in the 80s, where they meet an older woman, the film charts a journey of trials, triumphs, loves and losses. Now the question is: can they navigate the unusual triangle they've created and hold their friendship together?

A Home at the End of the World is a 2004 motion picture based on the book by Michael Cunningham, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. Michael Mayer directed the commercial and critical letdown, which has been criticized for leaving too much out of Cunningham's original material, among other things.

I couldn't help but feel how bogus A Home at the End of the World seemed throughout. There were moments where I could see its potential, but the feature falls far from it. Very rarely, did I want to invest time and sympathy into the picture's characters. Instead of layering and exploring these individuals, the filmmakers have produced something of a dreary and hurried product that substitutes frank emotions for cheap sentimentality. I believe the blame lies in the script and actors. Sissy Spacek is the only one that seized my full attention. Colin Farrell seems awkward as Bobby and, his character, downright unbelievable. The cinematography is even pretty slim-pickings here. There were a few decent music cues though.

Overall, A Home at the End of the World is a futile melodrama that doesn't assert anything fresh.

Second review is for the indie drama A Home At The End Of The World, this was a film I wasn't really intrested the day I got it, I wanted a zombie film but it was actually out on hire so I saw this and decided to give it ago and I'm glad I did because it's not a bad film at all, I found it too be an enjoyable film even if on several occasions it is also a very sad film, still it was worth the watch and it would be worth your time for at least one watch.

A Home At The End Of The World is about the story of Bobby and the friendship between him and Jonathan, we see these two young boys grow up and form a bond that know one can break up until Clare a fag hag gets in the way and they eventually drift apart but when Bobby decides to try and track Jonathan down there friendship eventually starts up again but with Clare in the mix now only time will tell on how long there friendship can last.

The acting in this movie is pretty good, Colin Farrell is here in his most down to earth and I thought he did a really good job, Robin Wright Penn was also good and I felt so sorry for her character on several occasions, Dallas Roberts is a new actor to me but his performance was good in this film and he had a pretty heartbreaking performance in this film, Sissy Spacek is great as Jonathan's mother and brings a class to this film, Matt Fewer as his father is in a small role but it was rewarding and lastly Ryan Donowho was also good as Colin's Older Brother and his performance ends with a sa scene that started the movie off with a shock.

The relationships in this film felt so true, it felt like I was watching someones home videos and that these three would never break up and it felt welcoming in away, it was a great chemistry between these three people, that was one of the big things for me is that it felt true and it didn't need a big actor like Colin over acting or proving he is a Hollywood Hearthrob, he did such a down to earth job in this film I felt like it wasn't really him and I was just watching someone normal, let's hope that makes sense.

Another thing that made me enjoy this film is I wasn't expecting what I got, I thought this was an Irish film to be truthful and when I sat down and watched it I was suprised to find it was an American film, the film was also a decent drama and when it wanted to be sweet it was and when the sad scenes came into play they felt heartbreaking it's because I felt for these characters and the film does deal with some pretty sad subject matters and that made the film more real.

Now onto the stuff I didn't like about the film, the film felt like Before Sunset it ended suddenly but with Before Sunset it felt right and it was a beautiful way to end it, Home ended suddenly and I felt like nothing was tied up or none of the characters got properly explained and I would have liked to see what happen to these peope, so ending it suddenly and not tying things up really pissed me off and it did lose a few points with me but still it was an above avarage drama.

Lastly A Home At The End Of The World is an above avarage indie drama with some good performances from it's leading actors, the relationships in this film were the highlight for me and it felt really real and this is what I loved, even though somethings in the third act take away from this film it is still an above avarage film and I do recommend this film for the performances or just see it for Colin Farrell not acting like his usual self because it is a semi rewarding film and It would be worth at least one watch.

Claire was a generic crazy best friend with wacky hair and completely predictable.

I can't even talk about this movie anymore it's making me so mad. It's a waste of time and not even worth being able to stare at Colin's gorgeous face cause what good it that when he is kissing a man, an ugly man.
