Vin Diesel in this film is like Clint Eastwood in reverse: just nonsense. As far as pure-bred action movies go, this is a cross between a mutt and some sort of mutant. The sheer unoriginality makes me want to gouge my eyes out. It is a remarkably poor film for its genre, but this makes it excellent for one thing only: a better chance at scoring with the chick you might be watching it with because at least you won't get too drawn into the film. Hopefully.

This film is 109 mins long and I'm just wondering how could you incorparate so much cliches. I don't mind cliches when thier done well otherwise jeez can you be orignal once. Here is a list of the of them from this movie alone.

1. The dead girlfriend
2. The scene when your patner breaks the news of dead girlfriend.
3. The scene when a punk is not giving him info and sticks a gun in his head.
4. The scene where he gets fired
5. The scene where the patner doesn't want to do it but then comes back and decides to do it.

If I keep going this will be a very long review. The actors are plain and did not give enough convictions for thier characters. It gets a C- for the cool action sequence in the middle of the movie. Other then that I'm glad when I check the friend meter on the tomatoe meter none of you guys saw it.

Vin Diesel makes this typical revenge movie a good ride. Thought it was pretty good, with good dose of action and drama.

I enjoyed this movie when it came out in 2003. And having just re-watched it in 2009 I'd say this movie was ahead of it's time, that's why it received such poor reviews. Especially compared to the frivolous and ridiculous movies I've watched in the last 5 years.

A Man Apart is nothing special but after the first 15 minutes I didn't think I'd be saying that in my comment. It starts off really well, exciting, good characters and it was moving along nice and quickly. While the good characters and the moving along kept up throughout the movie, the most important thing didn't was the excitement. The action sequences became like Vin Diesel's acting voice exactly the same the whole movie. The director tried his best to vary it (bombs, choking, etc) but these things never seemed to have any effect, for what reason I don't know. Also the storyline was unbelievably predictable. There are a lot of action movie out there, a lot - you're not going to find anything new in this one.

Although this one was released in 2003, I didn't remember having seen it. It didn't come back to me until I had watched a bit of it yesterday, but when it did I just turned the damn thing off. Once is more than enough, thank you very much!

A Man Apart (2003)

This is another movie that I enjoyed that most people seem to really hate or at least consider to be very average. I won't lie that the "revenge" genre is one of my favorite genres, so naturally I would find this movie to at least be decent. I also really felt for Diesel's character so that didn't hurt either. Sure the ending may be a little sloppy but to me there was enough action to keep it fun from start to finish.
