Thats one of my favourite Scorsese Movies because its settled in the South and is way different to the other Scorsese Movies thats a realistic Portrait of the South in the 20's with all its Lawlessnes and Rule of Force and it have one of the best Ends in the Film History the Black Man who everybody called "just a Negro" kill everybody and shows hows to count with "just a Negro" he is the Real Star of the Movie

It's a bit better than it should be but that's because it is in the hands of Martin Scorsese.

"Boxcar Bertha" is set in the South during the Depression where following the death of her father, Bertha(Barbara Hershey) takes to riding the rails, first hooking up with labor leader Big Bill Shelly(David Carradine). She later becomes partners with a gambler, Rake Brown(Barry Primus), but a shooting sends them on the lam where she reunites with Shelly and another old friend, Van Morton(Bernie Casey).

Directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Roger Corman, "Boxcar Bertha" is a sexy and violent take on living outside of the margins of society, while at the same time treating bank robbery as a political act.(This is the rare instance where Scorsese makes a politcal film but the symbolism of the final scene would be something he would revisit later.) And I have no problem with that as long as nobody gets hurt, and the movie is fun as long as that does not happen.

Yet, another Martin Scorsese movie review.

This movie really doesn't have a pay off until the very end, where all the Police guys get shot up and Bertha's love gets crucified on a train (Sorry Martin, Mel Gibson wrote the book on crucifiction for cinema). Otherwise, there's nothing special or wowing about this film. One of Scorsese's first and it definitely shows.

A 5.3 for this one. Hopefully I'll watch one of his better films, so far I stumbled across some mediocre ones. Surprisingly enough, this one was only 89 minutes.
