So it took me twenty years to finally watch this movie and I was pleasantly surprised - It was more than I expect and quite a treat to watch.

Johnny Depp steals this movie. Playing a basic character with so much witt and charm. Tim Burton creates a movie that for some reason reminds me of True Stories, even though the movies are totally unrelated in any way.

I just think the way the town is laid out reminds me of this classic.

As for Edward Sissorhands, if you made the same mistake I have and have not seen this movie yet - What are you waiting for? It tells a story of a young, manufactured man who's inventor (Vincent Price) passes before he can change Edwards scissor-for-hands to real human hands. Edward is forced to live alone, until one day the Avon lady finds and befriends him.

Quite a story, and very well acted and directed with a cool set design.

Don't miss it if you already have!

A pretty good fairytale re-working, classic predictable Burton, but actually a very good film. Quick paced storyline and screenplay with good acting by all the cast but especially by Depp, who plays the title character with great humour and wit although barely saying any lines. The direction is very interesting by Tim Burton, a very interesting set piece of the classic american neighbourhood and Edward's quick cutting skills. Not a family film with the unexpected shock ending, although Burton fans will be able to predict it. But all in all very good.

A modern day fairytale. This movie was made for everyone who feels like they do not belong.

Once again, Johnny Depp proves to be one of the most versatile actors of our day. This time he succeeds in carrying Tim Burton's story about an outcast in a suburban neighborhood to the status of a classic. If not for Depp, Edward Scissorhands would have been a failure.

Truly one of the most moving and beautiful pieces of personal work that shine above the Hollywood pictures of the past. Tim Burton's masterpiece contains all the elements that I love about the cinema all rolled into one amazing movie. The most admirable part of this film is it's personal aspect, practically an autobiography from the mind of Tim Burton, it shows how the most moving work is the work that comes from the heart of the director. The characters are so beautifully crafted and projected by the actors. Depp is the most brilliant actor to take on the role of this misunderstood monster. I really do feel a connection with the character of Edward. This really is a picture that takes you into an incredible new world that stands alone in its unique and quirky sensibility.

You will laugh, you will cry, but you will undeniably love this film. Practiclly faultless, but I didn't like the scenes with the neighbourhood female characters, at times they were boring and annoying but apart from that, this is Burtons second best work.

Brilliant. In the same vein as The Crow, in my opinion, in its dark epicness.
