Yes, the plot is stupid. Yes, it's a bit over-violent. Yes, most of the actors failed. But, you know what? I liked it. It was so stupid, that it was pretty good, and reminded me of Commando in it's way of showing off all action cliches imaginable, but in a funny way. But, it still has many of the problems I mentioned above. Recommended for a rental, ONLY if you're ready for the constant cliches.

As far as movies that deal with the apocalypse, this has got to be the most hilarious movie I've ever seen, and I mean this in every bad way possible. Damn, I want to watch it now...

It's a dumbass movie but hey it's got Arnold in it and you know what I enjoyed it. The action sequences are okay and the gore was pretty cool. Not a great movie but still enjoyable on a raniy day.

Plus Arnold's in it how much more do you want.

When coming up with the idea, Andrew W. Marlowe already had in his mind the idea of Arnie fighting against Satan. When meeting Arnie, Marlowe told him about his idea and even did an impression of the Terminator-star saying "I'm sending you back to hell". Somehow Arnie was impressed by this and became the first person on board the project End of Days.

The plot is basically as Marlowe intended, Arnie against Satan. With the turn of the millennium three days away, Satan returns to the physical world in order to take over the body of Gabriel Byrne. This already creates an interesting plot hole: why did Satan instantly ignore every other person he came across and instantly go for Gabriel Byrne? It is a question that is never answered which will annoy some people. After this Satan decides to blow up the restaurant he has just emerged from, just because he can.

Satan's intent know he is above ground is to track down a twenty year old named Christine (Robin Tunney). Because she was born when the planets were in a line she is chosen to be Satan's new wife, and must conceive Satan's child when the planets next line, which is between 11 and 12 am New Years Day 2000. Obviously, this would mean the birth of Satan's child who will bring about; you guessed it -- the end of days. That is not if Arnie can help it. It is a shame that Arnie wasn't given a more believable role by Marlowe considering he was the first person he had in mind. Arnie plays a bodyguard who because of the death of his wife and child is suicidal. When we first meet Jericho Cane, he is attempting to commit suicide, pointing his own gun at his head. He's also an alcoholic as well, so he is the perfect person to protect Christine and save the human race from destruction.

While there are so many problems with this and plenty of plot holes, it is still a fun thrill ride. Gabriel Byrne is particularly enjoyable to watch as Satan, with his slick arrogance and demeanour and the odd smattering of black humour only Satan can pull off. It is not for everybody, but for those who can ignore the plot holes and just enjoy the ride; it is a rip roaring action film. Also, it is probably the only film where you will see Arnie take a right beating from an old woman. No jokes, he gets battered.

Am positive that most of you who gave this
a negative rating was mostly because the critics
gave it a bad rating, most of you didn't even

The film mix's both typical action, and occult horror genres to reach a wider target market, yet ends up alienating true fans. Very dark and moody visuals work well with the subject matter, and as typical, the computer effects are truly amazing. Arnold Schwarezenegger is good but not one of his best films. Director Peter Hyams does his best to tackles the storyline but falls short. The movie was a letdown for me.

Arnold saves the world once again, but he still can't save California.

Gets 30% because I find the idea of fighting Satan with heavy duty arms to be really funny.

poor arnold missed an opportunity here, but hiring an action hero for this role is anyones guess. this is not arnold material and he just didn't look right in the role. some solid action scenes but sadly this is one film that had a use by date and is not something you need to watch ever again

End of days is a very underated movie, though most fans and critics do not like this movie I feel Diffrent. I personallly thought "End of Days" was pretty suspensfull and has an interesting plot. The Protagonist (played by Arnald) was portrayed in a simple but deppressing way. The mix of evil sounding music (along with music from Rob zombie and Guns N Roses) Created a very dark feel.
