No doubt this is one of the best films giving an exceptional representation of a person in history. However, it is not something I would choose to randomly put in my disk drive. It is a movie that should be appreciated though, as it shows Gandhi as he was.

First a injustice was made: Gandhi never won the Nobel Peace Prize (and Obama did? Nothing against Obama but that is kind of messed up) This movie that won the Oscar for Best Picture is like an apology, a really good apology.

Very good and highly recommended. Another film that shows a period when humanity was sad beyond belief. It's important that these films get made and made well. One day (hopefully) our kids will watch astounded, that these times ever existed. Gripping enough to fill it's 3 hours - I watch it twice in a row.

Gandi won for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. And its fairly obvious why. Its, 1, an epic film. 2, fantastic direction, and, 3, a great actor (Ben Kingsly). It stole 8 Academy Awards and I see why. It wasn't the best film i've seen in the biopic drama, but it has one of the best messages, that with non-violent revolution, one can triumph over oppression.

There's no way to describe this movie. Kingsly's acting was perfect, and this movie earned every award it got. Even in todays standards this movie is great. But I don't think if this movie were released today it would get the same praise it recieved. But non the less, it would still be a close call at the Oscar's.

Totally disappointed with this after being recommended by one of my friends. While Kingsley gave a great performance, Attenborough didn't manage to attract audiences to dwell about Gandhi if you're not into history, or history of India to be exact.

No offense to Gandhi himself..or what he did...but this movie had too much detail that does not keep everyone intrested. Its not really all that enterrtaining. If you love history or Gandhi and his teaching, then this is for you. If not, then do not watch it!
