This was a really great movie, very deep and i thought that the acting by the main two was very good as well. It really tells it like it is when you end up on the streets even if you did not start out there. Makes me sick to think just how many little kids are out there in the same boat exactly, they think there parents are dead and so this is all they know although at a certain age, that they were, they did have some morals etc that stuck with them, they knew they wanted something better. I don't like endings like that, I am such a romantic at heart , well my ending is that they found each other:) 8/10

Gardens of the Night is a horrific expose of child abduction and its lasting psychological and emotional damages. The first half of the film is hard to watch at times due to its blunt depiction of various forms of child abuse. You might find yourself thinking, Jeez, even though this is a movie, it would still damage that kid just to have to act this scene out. However, I think this is to the film's credit rather than its downfall. If you are willing to buy the story (which I was), then you will understand the necessity each scene has, however difficult it may be to watch.
The film's major blemish is the acting, which is pretty shabby at times. Personally, I found the portrayals of the "tough kids" to be unconvincing. To be quite honest, the lead children actors gave much better performances than the lead young adult actors.
Though the acting can jar the viewer at times, the dark, disturbing nature of the story is compelling enough to retain interest til the conclusion.
Tom Arnold gets the MVP for this film. He is believable and consistent throughout. The two lead children come in a close second, but could arguably be said to be the best performers in the film.

Poignant tale and rather disturbing. Terrific performances all around, thought provoking. Well filmed with good cinematography, It has a gritty style to it that really works. It can be depressing and I wasn't crazy about the direction the movie took, however overall it was quite good.

Tragic story about child abduction, exploitation, and its aftermath. There were a couple of scenes that broke my heart to watch...not that anything graphic was shown.

Didn't expect to like this movie but ended up really enjoying it.

I saw this movie about a week ago and i cried when it was over.It has been a week and i cannot stop thinking about it.It just amazes me how anyone could take an innocent child and do the things that were done to them and get away with it.Ifelt so bad for those two kids especially the little boy. This movie wants to make you jump into your t.v and hurt the two men that took them and hug those two kids and tell them everything will be ok,but we cant.So yes i hope this movie is a wake up call for America and our Government and say there are sick people out there. What are we going to do to protect our children.

"Gardens of the Night" I thought was a great movie. Daniel Harris really went above and beyond to explore such a dark world that to most of us is alien. The acting was superb Gillian Jacobs, Evan Ross,Tom Arnold along with the rest of the cast delivered unforgettable performances. You come away from the movie feeling extremely saddened yet appreciating even the littlest of things a little more.

Okay, I'm gonna have to say, I didn't watch the movie yet, but just watching the trailer helped me to completely understand the evils of child pornography. In the images, videos and anything else, the predators use the victims for sex and profit without caring for them whatsoever! The reason this got some awards is the movie itself has given everybody a reason to root out child predators. This movie also unleashes the reason sexual exploitation of children can't be condoned, no matter how harmless the pedophiles claim to be.

Death to child predators!
Death to those who prey on the innocent!
And death to those who would even allow this to happen, no matter what the child has done to them!

:rotten: :rotten: 1/2 (out of four)

This film proves that casting can be a make or break decision. In fact, I would have given this film a recommendation had one of the main parts been handled differently.

A young girl is kidnapped and held hostage by a man (Tom Arnold) who cunningly comes across like a loveable uncle, and his hateful sidekick (Kevin Zegers). While being held, she meets a boy about her age who has also been kidnapped. They form a bond that carries them through the coming hard years.

In a way this is really two films. The first half is very good. Tom Arnold is perfect as the kidnapper. It is easy to see how these children were taken in by him. The second half of the film takes place about ten years later. The kids are now teenagers and living on the streets of San Diego. This section is not bad, but I had problems with the casting of Gillian Jacobs. She is a fine actress, but she comes across as a Hollywood Starlet, who is slumming it for the role. She doesn't seem like a street kid of 16 or 17. Worse of all is that she looks to be closer to thirty, not sixteen. I feel the film lost its credibility and believability at this point. It's a shame because there is some great stuff here.
