Two very different films but together they make for a hell of a double-feature. 'Grindhouse' is 'Planet Terror', an action-packed zombie film that while its a bit on the wild side its very entertaining. 'Death Proof' however is completley different and has fewer action scenes and focuses more on conversation, with a killer car chase sequence at the end. 'Planet Terror' is obviously the better film of the two, but together they really do blend well and make for one hell of a night!

No one but Quentin Tarantino could have made these films and done such a great job. Both Death Proof and Planet Terror were filmed in vintage grindhouse fashion right down to the grainy and even missing film reels that so commonly plagued patrons at grindhouse theaters.

Planet Terror was a non-stop action packed thrill ride that is backed by a great plot and even better cinematography. Each scene was stylish and well thought out to create an awesome atmosphere that is both dreary and exciting. Many of the criticisms I have read state that the over the top gratuitous violence made the movie unsatisfying but to me, that was the best part. Each action sequence was unbelievable and unrealistic exactly like in classic grindhouse films and yet each idea was unique and extremely well crafted to make one hell of a movie.

Death Proof was everything that Planet Terror was not. The classic Tarantino style truly showed in Death Proof through intelligent and very well scripted dialogue that provided highly detailed backgrounds for each main character without losing the interest of the audience. Although the dialogue for Death Proof was extremely well done, nothing compares to the final car chase. I wont say anymore to keep from ruining the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Both films were expertly written and filmed in a vintage grindhouse style that only the combination of Tarantino and Rodriguez could have created. 95%

Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez do what they do best, make movies that they know the fans will enjoy. That applies to Grindhouse, the awesome two in one combo that came out back in 2007. Sure maybe it was a flop and sure maybe these movies aren't as enjoyable not being played back to back with awesome trailers in between. But that doesn't stop this movie from probably being the funnest experience i've ever had in a movie theater.

Now to get to the actual movie itself, well I guess I should say two movies: Planet Terror and Death Proof. While I own both of these movies and enjoy them both, it just doesn't feel the same as when I went and saw it in theater. The 75-80 people that actually showed up for the movie enjoyed it just as much. Even though i'm a big Tarantino fan, I didn't really have high hopes for this movie when I went and saw it. Maybe thats why I enjoyed it even more.

The movie contains trailers from directors like Eli Roth, Edgar Wright, and Rob Zombie. Honestly the trailers that Eli Roth and Rob Zombie did were probably the best cinematic pieces that these two have ever directed. I know they were fake trailers but that doesn't stop me from not wanting to go see them, I hope their all made into movies eventually.

I know this is more of a blog than a review, but I just wanted to get out how I feel about this movie, and the people fortunate enough to see this in theaters back-to-back, probably had the same experience.

Here's to hoping they release fun movies like this in the near future.

In case if you haven't notice, I DON'T LIKE HORROR MOVIES OR MOVIES WITH A LOT OF BLOOD AND GORE.

I'm going to review the two movies separately, I'll start off with Planet Terror. This movie is just dumb in my mind, funny, but dumb. It had the one thing that makes me avoid horror movies, gore. While I don't mind the occasion bloody corpse or some guts showings, but this is a movie that was like nope, skrew it, we're going to add as much useless gore as we can. If you want gore, this movie will satisfy you. While I do think there is more gory films out there, I generally avoid those movies. Why, its because I don't like that, no offense for those who do.

But to give this movie credit, it was suppose to be stupid and gory. It actually makes fun of horror movies, for their stupid plots and unnecessary gore. It is mocking the things I am criticizing it for. I even found this movie to be funny, but I still think this movie is dumb. Why, because I think the story is still stupid, no matter if it was suppose to be like that. If I gave all movies with purposely stupid stories, that means I would have given all those spoof movies good reviews. I didn't like this movie at all, overall. 2/5 40%

But Death Proof, that's a totally different movie. Sure it goes slow and the plot is kind of weird and short, but I actually like Death Proof. It had better directing then the previous movie, and the story wasn't that stupid. Quentin Tarantino knows how to direct, and this is only the second movie I saw of his. I've seen many more since then, and I came to the conclusion that he is a good director.

But despite all that, I'm only going to call this movie OK. Why, well because like I said before it does go slow, and the story is, just a little bit, WEAK. But I just want to say that the car crash in the middle was AWESOME, it was more awesome then all those stupid action scenes in Planet Terror combine. Of the two movies, Death Proof is the only one worth seeing. 3/5 70%

2/5 40% + 3/5 70% = 2

See my reviews of Death Proof and Planet Terror. 2 good movies for the price of 1 (assuming you saw it in the theater) is a great deal.

Oh, and one final and major point: movies were orinally made for the sake of entertainment, nothing more. Because that is the case, this makes this one of the best movies of all time, because it sometimes seems that movies have forgotten what the word "movie" means.

This is what Quentin was meant to direct. He delivers two great movies for one price. Violent, dark, and just plain awesome. Planet Terror offers a movie where theres a zombie apocalypse. Great actors, cheesy lines, and an insane funny plot is what I'm all about. Death proof is a much slower paste movie, but still offers a kick ass chase scene at the end. It builds story and you get to know each character and have feelings for them. The ending is just fantastic. one of the coolest movies.

It's good to see that this movie has received so much positive appraisal on this site. Based on what I've seen in general, most people are familiar with the dvd release of "Grindhouse" and not the theatrical version which I find to be a shame. I am one of the few who have seen the theatrical version of this film and let me tell you, it was the most fun I have ever had in a movie theater. The energy in the room was unbelievable, I felt like I was at a rock concert. But much to my dismay when the dvd release came out both "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof" were sold separately and the fake movie trailers, which is what made the film, were scrapped. If you want to see the movie trailers at all, you have to watch them on youtube. It's so unfortunate because it's extremely underrated do to the current dvd version.

Grindhouse is a load of fun and excitement.

Planet Terror:A film loaded with crazy-ass effects and some cheesy violence but still filled with a fun plot and good cast make this film awesome.

Death Proof:Sure the film may not have gore and buckets of blood like Tarantino films but i enjoyed this one.Nothing but talking but you begin to care fo the characters. And the two accidents in the film are AWESOME.

Grindhouse is loads of fun. Some cheesy effects but still worth it.8.7/10
