It's just a thumbs up! A musical film with a fun, easy to follow story.. I never thought that John Travolta and Christopher Walken will do something like this that turned out so great. I just love the whole cast, great balancing of the roles. The songs are to remember.. 8/10.

This Disney-fied version of the John waters cult-classic is fun, playful and a great date-movie.The sexual innuendos are cute but not pushing the envelope as in the original.
Nikki Blonsky is great as Tracey Turnblad...and the supporting cast of Michelle Pfieffer,John travolta,Christopher Walken,Amanda Bynes,Zac Efron etc, this movie is great to watch with kids, though they may not get the racial undertones of the Corny Collins Show or the society as a whole, but it is still a great movie for them....great songs that the cast actually sings

TMI:I love Nikki Blonskys playfully naughty flirting. The way she smacks her ass and says 'I'm a bad bad girl and i deserve to be PUNISHED!' in detention, the line in her song about Link...'i won't go all the way,but I'll go pretty far-r-r!' is priceless....mmmm,yummy......

With a funny cast of celebrities including new-commer Nikki Blonsky combined with fun-loving songs, makes this a fun musical to dance too.

A trippy and boring movie; and as you can see, no I'm not much into musicals. Even if I had been, the lack of actually FUNNY humor in this movie would still have made me fall asleep after two buckets of strong coffee. Although the acting wasn't too bad, it couldn't make up for the storylines abject lameness.

I went to the local library to hunt for movies to drown out tommorrow's Super Bowl boredom, and I picked up 4 movie hopefuls, and one of those movies was Hairspray.

I haven't seen a music themed movie in a long time. I think the original Hairspray was the last musical That I watched.
I have seen many of the older movies, but, none of them were as fun and entertaining as this.

There was a lot of talk when this movie came out, and, a lot of it had to do with John Travolta in Drag. Yes, John Travolta was in drag in the movie, but putting the focus on him was something that should have been secondary to all the other great performances in the film. Queen Latifa was by far the best part of the whole film, and the girl who played the Ricky lake role was pretty good in her part as well.

There certainly were some great singers in this newer version of Hairspray, and the dancing was pretty good too.
John Travolta was ok as the mother, but, I'm not sure if he would compare to Divine. I think this is probably the only movie I have seen that I liked Christopher Walken in.

It is certainly a great story. I'm glad they remade it, and they did an excellent job. You can't say that about too many remakes. I would recommend it to anyone.

The fact that an entire generation in the 50 and 60s grew up watching musicals is perhaps an explanation for the demented generations that followed.Still, the fact that musicals STILL get made is a further omen that the apocalypse is not only upon us, it's riding us straight off the f***** cliff and into a blazing abyss of singing hell complete with horror hairdos and deader than braindead "dialogues".
So why does it get a whooping 10% from me and not the zero-minus it wholeheartedly deserves? Well, out of sheer respect for the amount of illegal substances obviously consumed in the process of writting the script.

one of the best modern musicals. it catches you with its powerful energy, explosion of color, amazing choreography, wit and the amazing performances of Nikki Blonsky, Elijah Kelly, John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer. The whole cast is superb.
