What happened to the wisevid link? If someone could please re-post it, that'd be nice. I'm on a school computer and that's about the only one that works. Most of those links are broken, too. -Person

The fourth instalment into the Harry Potter-series is the most ambitious and darkest of the four.

As a huge fan of the book i have too say that my hopes for this movie were a bit mixed. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite of the books but Goblet of Fire isn't far behind. The material that the director has from the book is much more then in any other movies from the series and it's so rich of fantastic content that i wondered if they would be able to put it all into one movie. Even though some die-hard Potter fans will say that a lot from the book is not used, i have too say that i am very pleased with what they did and i thing most of it was for a good purpose -- for the most part. Steven Kloves is a man i finally have too praise for taking very good care of the script. In the first two movies, he went the opposite way and tried to cram everything into two and a half hours. With The Goble of Fire, Steven Kloves cuts away most of the unnecessary material but rather he has a little fun with the ground-story and it really surprised me how well the story worked on a movie screen when there isn't too much information being thrown at you. This movie flows really well through the whole movie mostly and delivers the story in a very good time.

In the director's seat is this time Mike Newell and he takes Alfonso Cuaron's place so to speak. It's hard picking you're favourite out of those two, because everyone who worked on the Potter series have their own style and all have their pros and cons. Diversity is the key in this subject with a series like this and that's exactly why it's good to chance director in every turn. That's a good way to avoid movies repeating them self's in many ways and seeing the same things again and again. Chris Columbus was the perfect choice for the first one because the first was more family friendly. He also did a fantastic job in the second one even though the style was pretty much the same, only darker. Cuaron created this very dark and powerful atmosphere for the third one and here Newell did the same thing only in his own style and it was more involved with the story rather then the look.

The feeling you get from Goblet is totally different from what we are used too and that gives you a more fresh look at the environment surrounding this film. The story is driven as a character-driven school story as much as an adventure. The director puts a strong focus on the characters communication and I think it's save to say that this movie has the best performances. Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are still good together and are clearly better in touch with their characters. Their maturity in the real world reflects on their character also a lot. This teenage drama and this unstoppable hormone flow in the movie comes out great and make the story much more intriguing. If you look at the old guys in the cast, you can see they are still there and better then ever but the new cast also comes in with a bang with great performances. Brendan Gleeson steals nearly every scene he's in as Mad-Eye Moody and makes the character his own. There is something so wonderfully crazy about him that it makes his performance a joy too watch. We can't forget about the great Ralph Fiennes, even though he has very limited screen time he still is obviously very important. His interpretation of Voldemort surprised me in a good and a bad way. Firstly his look was fantastic and completely fits with everything in the book but I thought he needed a bit more power and even more evil into the character.

If we compare Goblet of Fire with the other movies, we can safely say that it's better then the first two and it's on pretty much equal ground with Azkaban. Like I said before, there's obviously more ambition put into this one and also it becomes more important In a way because Rowling is making this world even bigger by introducing the world cup and all those new schools into the mix. There is not a lot that I can call a real flaw in this movie and some of them are so unimportant that I am not going to even mention them. Patrick Doyle's music comes out perfectly with the atmosphere and the same can be said about the visuals in this movie. Outstanding.

Over all Goblet of Fire was way better then I ever expected. I expected good entertainment but not something that would come close to Azkaban. The results are a fantastic adventure film filled with action, humour, magic, darkness and a story that will keep you stuck in your seat the whole way through. I am really enjoying this series and it seems that every movie just keeps getting better and better.

9/10 - Brilliant installment into the series.

A disappointment in comparison to the first three films, yet it is not terrible. For non fans of the books this might easily become their favorite film but to those who have read the books, HP 4 misses its mark. Where the book played out as a mystery with the kids trying to find a secret villain that has infiltrated the school, this one is all about the tasks and special effects. Over reliance on CG took the tension out of what should have been one of the most mystery filled films of the series.

This movie should've had a main villain to hold me over until the next movie comes around. What it gave me instead was filler and vuldamort running away at the end of this flick. While this movie has some good moments, these problems drag it down a bit. Overall, this movie was okay. Only go see this flick if u are a moronic harry potter fan. 7/10

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a fantasy-adventure film, based on J. K. Rowling's novel of the same name. The film is the fourth installment in the Harry Potter film series. The film was directed by Mike Newell and produced by David Heyman. The screenplay was penned by Steve Kloves. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively. The film is set during the trio's fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A highly dangerous competition, the Triwizard Tournament, is being held at Hogwarts with only one student from each of the three competing schools selected to take part, but mystery occurs when the Goblet of Fire chooses Harry Potter as a fourth competitor.

Harry Potter has a dream about an event while it takes place. He sees an elderly man investigate a light that is shining in the house he looks after and overhears Lord Voldemort making plans with Peter Pettigrew and another man that Harry does not recognize. The caretaker is caught and murdered by the Dark Lord. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger express concern over Harry's dreams. The Quidditch World Cup allows Harry to take his mind off his nightmares. However, followers of Voldemort known as Death Eaters terrorise and destroy the spectators' campsites after the match.

At Hogwarts, headmaster Albus Dumbledore introduces a new teacher, a man known for his powerful magic and his all-seeing glass eye, the ex-auror Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. Harry, along with his classmates, notices Moody frequently drinking from a flask. Dumbledore also announces that the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, in which one wizard from each of the three magic schools competes in three difficult tasks. The champions are selected by the Goblet of Fire, a magical cup into which the names of candidates are placed. Cedric Diggory is chosen to represent Hogwarts, Quidditch champion Viktor Krum is chosen to represent Durmstrang Institute, and Fleur Delacour is selected to represent Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. The goblet unexpectedly chooses a fourth champion, Harry. As Harry is underage and therefore should have been ineligible to compete, Hogwarts teachers and fellow students alike are suspicious.

Great movie. The main characters are maturing, and the filmmakers are improving on their craft. The special effects were great and the performances were of the charts. Michael Gambon's portrayal of Albus Dumbledore is growing on me and I think he was a great choice. Everything was great here. I love it. Thumbs up for me.
