This movie is semi entertaining, but only because it's so awful.

The franchise deserved a Scott or a Spielberg. It got Cannon. It's a pity, in a genre where Blade Runner set the benchmark almost 30 years ago. Unsure of whether it's hard nosed sci-fi or light-hearted adventure spoof it never lets the audience settle in for what should be a great ride. On paper the cast are great, but we can't really blame them for what looks like a third rate rush-job. The Hollywood humanisation of Dredd is fatal, as you will know if you are at all familiar with the character, since to do so is to destroy him and that's about the only thing this film does well.

Looks great and some nice action scenes but even for a purely entertaining movie there are way too many plot holes and one too many cheesy lines.

you are the lawn? i gotta admit the special effects are nice and all but the story seems to be stupid enough. i find this film more controversial than doom. however stallone may be a bad actor but the only good thing is his meme: i am the law. i find stallone more entertaining in rambo. but this film is a bit... weird. but to me this film is some sort of... stupid. and of course, its non sensicle. so how bad is this film? terrible, but im not being harsh on this.

I bring more reviews from the Sly-verse! I tracked down another "oldie" which just happened to be another Sylvester Stallone flick. Here's today's review of another movie you can't find on rottentomatoes. Here's today's review of "Judge Dredd."
The time is 2139. Earth has become a barren wasteland, and everyone lives inside a giant enclosed city, where technology has soared; flying cars, voice-activated guns, automated add robots. Policemen have become a thing of the past. Street law enforcement, now called "Judges", have all the power of judge, jury, and executioner for criminals. When Dredd, the most renowned Judge on the force, is convicted of a crime he did not commit, he is sentenced to life imprisonment. After his escape with a particularly annoying accomplice, Dredd must find out why his beloved law failed him and ultimately discover the secrets of his past.
This is your typical 80's-type actioner. The big tough guy hero, the futuristic setting, and the annoying/recurring love interest. The action is pretty good, the effects are fine, and the acting is decent. I must say, this is the biggest role I have ever seen Rob Schneider play (so far), and he was pretty good. The story is hopelessly predictable and the dialogue is packed with enough cheesy taglines to put Arnold Schwarzenneger to shame. But it moved freely and quickly, never being too complicated or boring. And on top of it all, this was a good comic book movie. But it's just too reminiscent of EVERY other action movie coughdemolitionmancough to be anything unique or special. But it was an interesting movie. I give "Judge Dredd" 5.7 out of 10.
I can't really find a line worthy of mentioning. EVERY single line from Stallone was a tagline regarding judging or court. That should tell you something.

Typical action/sci-fi fare, nothing that we haven't seen done better before. While the action scenes and special effects are at times mediocre, the story is awful and the acting only slightly better. Rob Schneider is awful at comedy, not once making me even smile. The film follows all the trademarks of an action clich

Not as awful as everyone makes it out to be, but it's still pretty bad. It would've gotten a little higher if Rob Schneider wasn't in it. He just sucks the life out of every movie. Standard stallone movie, just with really awful comedy attached to it.

This movie was too bland and run of the mill to be good. Nothing was funny, action-packed or interesting, but at the same time it wasn't bad enough to turn off. There are many problems that lie in it, mainly in the acting and storyline.

The acting is pretty bad.* That simple. Distractingly bad. They do nothing towards conveying human emotion, whether it be love, fear or anger. It's all just blank. We learn very little of the characters, although this may have something to do with the fact it is a comic book or something. I could understand X-Men without reading the frigging comic books.

The storyline, just crap. No real merit, no real problem. Also the characters are too stupid to care about, but anyway, the plot often seemed to branch off into unrelated little parts that just made the film longer.

In the end, the whole film was just cheesy, unoriginal but intriguing. Sadly the interesting premise that is the basis of the original Judge Dredd failed to make it across to this film, but there is nothing I can do. It wasn't... that bad.

If it weren't for Rob Schneider, I would've liked this.
