Leviathan is one of the great horror underwater, creature
films. The only other kind of film like it would be deep star six which is great in its own right.
The film is very good in its special effects, and under water filming. Have a look at this one, it will keep you on the edge of your seat..

I kinda liked this flick despite of its obvious flaws and hangovers. It has some gloomy atmosphere down there with this genetic mutant. Give it a 50%, i'm in a generous mood

It is as if someone took Jaws, Alien, The Thing and the Abyss and smashed them together. While the movie was not bad, it was too predictable and the ending ruined what could have been a good movie. The cast was good and so were some of the special effects but by the end, it didn't even matter.

Starring: Peter Weller, Richard Crenna, Amanda Pays, Daniel Stern, Ernie Hudson, and Hector Elizondo.
Directed by George P. Cosmatos.
Written by David Webb Peoples and Jeb Stuart.
Rated R (for sci-fi violence and gore, and for language).
Running time approximately 1 hour 38 minutes.

If pacing is an issue and you've made a film that's only 98 minutes long, you need to go back to film school. Leviathan is bad on quite a few levels. There are a few really creepy moments here and there, but mostly it's just bad. The acting is bad, the script is bad, the creature (which shows up in the very end) looks bad and the story is bad. That's a lot of bad. * (out of ****) D

Unknown terror, from an unknown life form, featured in a relatively unknown movie.

I give this film a 7.4 out of 10.0. A great Sci-fi film that holds up very well, both in its limited use of effects, and interesting moments. If you liked Alien you need to check this one out.

Shameless rip-off of "Alien", predictable and familiar. It does have a pretty brisk pace, the special effects are decent, but it's all been done before. The score is over the top.

So I'm watching Leviathan. You remember it right? Peter Weller, Richard Crenna, and Amanda Pays are in this oceanic mining station with only a few days left before they are picked up and they run across this old Russian ship that has been sunk by its own military. That in itself is fishy enough to put your guard up. One of the crew members *Daniel Stern, no less* finds a safe and runs across a flask of vodka while pilfering through the stuff and pockets it without telling anyone. No, no, no.....

The following conversation with my friend E confirms my suspicion:

S: Ooops. They found a safe full of a stuff from a Russian ship. And some guy just put some booze he found in his pocket. I sense he'll be regretting that later.
E: Booze in the pocket is always the way to die.
S: That's what they always told us in Health class.
E: Plus, it gets your pocket soggy.
S: That's why you must always line your pocket with sealing plastic before placing the booze inside.
E: Good plan. Good plan. *nods*
S: I'm full of plans and ideas. *nods back*
E: You are! You are! :D
S: Uh oh. He is sharing the booze with another person! They will die horrible deaths.
E: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
S: Dumb asses. *lol* Don't they ever watch movies? You never ever drink anything you find on sunken ships, subs, or downed spacecraft.
E: *didn't know this*
E: They watch the movies I watch, where things like that don't happen.
S: Well now you do and if you ever find yourself in a situation like this, you'll be safe.
E: HOORAY!!!
S: *does the Safety Dance*
