Yet again another movie with Fred Savage in the 80s. I loved this movie when I was a kid. The end was freaky with "Boy" the ruler of the dark under world fantasy land.

Little Monsters was my favorite movie when I was 5 years old. Now I'm just about 25 and re-watching this film was a blast. I forgot a lot about this movie and it was funny to be reminded of the production quality of the film. The sets were constructed very cheaply with broken pallets piecing together an eerie underworld, but as a child that didn't seem to matter.

One thing that surprised me about this movie is how eerie it really is. The character of Boy is like a creepy underworld version of Gary Numan, who sheds his fake flesh to show his true creepy ass monster face at the end of the movie. I'm sort of surprised that this movie didn't scare me at 5 years old, then again I remember my parents having me watch movies like A Nightmare on Elm Street when i was even younger.

Overall it was a pretty decent view. I was entertained the whole time although the writing is extremely corny. Fred Savage does a great job at what he does best and that's being a kid. Howie Mandel plays an over the top monster who is funny at times and annoying at others. If you're in the mood for a cheesy kids movie from the 80's give it a watch. If not stay away from this film. You will most likely hate it.

I loved this movie as a kid and even now it is just as fun and adoreable as ever! Howie is hysterical and the family on a whole shows a level of comfort and believeability thats so lost in a lot of movies these days. The story is entertaining and worth a watch or 2.

There's some interesting action, a couple of laughs, and a good ending. However, that's not enough for me to recommend it. I thought Howie Mandall was really overacting, and the characters are unlikable.

A movie I can't sit all the way through now as an adult. None the less, it still deserves a file in my memory bank and a decent rating.

This evening my friend Mike almost known as Merlin and I were pounding beers to our heads and enjoying Little Monsters.
Yes we were enjoying it, I believe, and I think most of you will agree that Little Monsters gets you drunker.
The most bad ass thing in this movie is when Daniel Stern shows up wearing goofy looking glasses and then turns out to be a dick, playing against type - finally!
this almost gave me a mad boner but I sadly, it did not.
I later got a boner from the red headed teen girl, who likes plants - this is because one day I plan to be a horticultrist... so my boner rating for this movie is 1 and 1/2 boners.

Mike however gives this movie a boner rating of zero, stating "It's a good movie, but it didn't give me any boners." Mike usually gets boners from speical effect driven masterpieces like the drama filled Armegeddon starring an aging but totally sexy Bruce Willis.

All in all Fred Savage is not boner worthy in this movie, or are many of his co-stars.

The kid who plays Ronnie Coleman in this movie, will call him Chubs McFarts, destroyed a best supporting actor nod, at best.

This movie is great for a night of drinking beers with a friend and a small dog who also likes beer.

This movie is not good on dates, because if the girl isn't attractive and you want to get a boner to have sexual intercourse with her - the movie won't give you that extra boner drive to actually go through with it.

This movie won't cure your cancer, like other movies - mostly starring Val Kilmer.

Also turn the sound off of this movie, and play Michael Jackson or Huey Lewis instead. It makes for hilarty - please be drunk.

I call this a twelve pound beer masterpiece...

I'm irritated just seeing his stupid friggin' face...

I got exactly 40 minutes into this movie before the physical pain it was causing me became too much to bare. I despised the experience of those 40 minutes of the total (and, rather obviously, insuffrable) 103-minute running time. I will never finish watching this. Rarely do I turn off or walk out of a film. Too bad. I'd heard such great things. Proof that everyone sucks at having an opinion, I guess. Zero Stars (out of ****) F

Brian Stevenson's (Fred Savage) little brother Eric (Ben Savage) can't seem to sleep in his room at night because he claims a monster comes out from under his bed and terrorizes him. Brian has problems of his own to deal with, like their parents constantly fighting and his seemingly endless ability to get in trouble. But on a dare, Brian sleeps in Eric's room alone to prove there are no monsters. Turns out there are, and Brian is about to discover the secret world they dwell in.

I liked this movie when I was younger, so when I saw a DVD out for it I instantly purchased it. Sadly, Little Monsters falls into the category of films that I liked when I was younger, but not so much now that I'm older. Sure it still has a few moments that I enjoy, but not enough for me to enjoy this film.

Most of the film's problems are due to Howie Mandel, who plays Maurice, the monster that befriends Brian and shows him the world of scaring children. He was too over the top, and far too many times. I savored each scene where he wasn't present, and dreaded the ones he filled. I guess his antics were supposed to be funny, but they were far more nerve-racking than anything else.

Plus, a lot of the humor in this film was funny when I was younger. But now that I am older, I find most of it disturbing. Sure bullies are some of the worst people in the world, but is replacing their juice with urine a funny thing to do? I guess when you are younger you see this as a nice form of payback, but it seems more like mean spirited pranks with no real need to be in the film. Especially if you aren't going to have any resolution with the bully and suddenly make him a hero at the end of the film!

Maybe I've just grown up into a grumpy adult, who knows? All I know is this movie upset me more than it entertained me. There is some splendid acting in the film from its young cast, and some really neat special effects at times. But the film's crude humor and irritating monster lead were too much for me to handle.
