Second rate at best, Lost in Space aims for the stars and misses by miles.

LOST IN SPACE certainly has suffered;
The very first season of the original 1960s TV Series, which is in B&W, is very high-quality science fiction, all except for 1 episode ("Welcome Stranger"). The 2nd and 3rd Seasons are in colour and you can see why LOST IN SPACE is presented as an example of a TV show that was damaged in quality after 1966's switch to colour.
Then they made a terrible comic-book series in the 90's!

Anyway, onto the film now. This film makes the series's long-suffering history no better. It's absolutely pathetic and cringeworthy, and it would make you fall asleep if it didn't also make you vomit. The film drags on, and you wonder when it's going to end. When it finally does end, you want all that time of your life back. It shows-off way to much, with special effects and fancy costumes and over-the-top acting.

OH, and by the way, in 2003 they tried to bring the series back with a new TV Series. One episode was made, and it was never broadcast or sold. It's unfortunate, becuase it's first good-quality thing to ever come from LOST IN SPACE since 1967.

This was a series? Oh well. The series probably was not nearly as bad as this, but it's not like it's very good source material to work with. By the way, why does EVERY SINGLE LOST FAMILY OR PERSON have Robinson in their name? Swiss Family Robinson, Robinson Crusoe, and now Lost in Space? How dreadfully unoriginal (as is most of the movie). Plus, there's even a crappy, blunt, and completely tactless (kind of like the dialogue) environmentalist message in this one. Not that I mind environmentalist messages (I'm all for saving the Earth and all that), but when you present the idea so poorly, and deal it so heavyhandedly, it's hard to appreciate any good intentions that might have been behind it (if any). Just don't watch this one. Trust me. If you want a new movie adaptation of an old Sci-Fi series, I suggest you buy Star Trek (2009).

The whole movie is a mess from the begining to the end. The visual effects are awful, all the performances are too fake and misguided that made me laugh, the casting is ridiculous and terrible, the screenplay is one of the worst I've ever seen and despite I've never seen a single episode from the original TV Series I think the original was much better than this.

Danger! Will Robinson! This movie sucks!

Here it is; the moment you all have been waiting for! This is my 50th review written on Rotten Tomatoes. This review is also so special that not only it is the 50th review ever written, but I was also inspired by the Nostalgia Critic to review a bad movie based on a timeless 1960s sitcom. That's right, you guessed it. "Lost in Space".

"Lost in Space" is yet another movie that I bought from my local library on VHS. I was expecting this movie to be good since it's based on a campy 1960s sitcom and the action in this movie is Star Wars-esque. But when I watched it, I feel right asleep. This movie is the third worst movie of 1998, only surpassed by "Godzilla" at #2 and "Barney's Great Adventure" at #1.

This movie takes place in the year 2058, which is also the year that I turn 63 years old. The Robinson family are back and they must go into space to fight to live long enough and find a way back home.

The most offensive thing about this movie is Blarp. He is one of the worst CGI characters to ever come on the big screen. If you thought Jar Jar Binks from the Star Wars prequels was bad (he still is), listen to Blarp. His voice is so annoying and ear-piercing.

Overall, this movie sucked, but I've seen worse movies than this (Superbabies, anyone?). The only thing I liked about this movie was the fact that action was Star Wars-esque. Other than that, it's a dull TV-show-based movie and not worth the ticket price. Don't forget to congratulate me on my 50th review!

Final Score: 20/100 (Just plain bad)

Contary to many peoples view - I found this to be a fun and amusing film.

The plot is interesting with some nice twists and ideas - the time travel works well. Its not hard sci-fi nor is it meant to be - its light, fun and and well done - and thats often all I want from a film.

A science fiction movie is meant to bring the viewer into a world that's creative, interesting, and awe-inspiring. Lost in Space fails at that completely, while also delivering some moldy-looking effects, boring performances, and some generally dumb writing.

This movie does no good for the viewers of it. It has bad and dull acting as well as tons of horrible writing and a crappy plot to go along with it. 1/10
