Patton is a war film unlike any other I've had the pleasure of seeing. Instead of condemming war, this film, in a sense, glorified it. This is a bit tough to swallow, but it is a bit of a relief from the constant barrage of the message "war is hell."
Furthermore, George C. Scott delivers and absolute powerhouse performance as George S. Patton. This performance is easily one of my favorite performances by any leading actor.
The screenplay is everything just short of masterful. Absolutely rivetting lines delivered flawlessly by Scott and I'm sold.
And I was extremely impressed with the battle scenes in this film. I was greatly taken by surprise by their epic scale and greatness.
I loved this movie, every minute of it. I can't see this as one I'd want to watch repeatedly, but it was everything I could expect or hope for out of a war epic.

This film takes you into the eyes of a man who's only joy in life is war and winning. This film truly captures and American war hero who basically scared the shit out of the enemy, "the Nazi" and a big reason why ww2 is ours. A must see, George C. Scott is fucking amazing and hard to believe this film was created so long ago.

This biopic is perfect it isn't dramatizing, nor bashing him, but showing that he was real.

The thing about "Patton" that strikes me is the camera movement and the lighting in most scenes is superb. I appreciate the Germans actually speak German with sub titles and sometimes arrogant sometimes humble George C. Scott who played the role of the general. His lines were well written and the movie as a whole was outstanding. The music used and the movement and direction were all very well done. Great movie. A lot of care was taken in the selection of the scenes and the sounds involved with all of the characters. This movie is a must see if you like war movies.

**** (out of four)

Th winner for the Best Picture Oscar for 1970. Patton was such a dynamic and controversial figure in American History. Telling his story really requires an actor that can embody the someone who is know so well by the public. George C. Scott does that effortlessly in this.

Scott also took home a statue for his performance.

classical war and classical biographical movie. nothing so special about the treatment of the topic. george c. scott iz great as the most remarkable general of the ww2, but epics and ww2 are not my kind of fun.

Simply the best, to my mind, war flick ever made and while that is saying a lot (I liked the Longest Day as well) and with a tip of the hat to many other war gems, Patton said it all for me. While coming off as somewhat of a pompous ass, Patton is able to put his troops where his mouth was, so to speak. Seemingly truthful telling of a general bigger than life, his ups and downs, especially at the end of the film was cinematic glory. Highly recommended if you enjoy war epics.
