As 80s monster horror goes, this is top notch. Back in the days before everything was CG, movie monsters had to be built from scratch. Lance Henriksen is excellent, as always, and the witch is singularly creepy. Good fun.

Pumpkinhead is a great horror B movie directed by the celebrated special effects master, Stan Winston. The story to Pumpkinhead is pretty basic, a man's son accidently gets killed and he calls on a monster (Pumpkinhead) to avenge his sons death. While the plot isn't original, Pumpkinhead is quite an entertaining horror film. Lance Henrikson does a really good job with his performance as the young boy who gets killed father. The special effects for the time weren't too bad either, and Pumpkinhead himself is a pretty cool monster. So if you like this sort of movie, you should definitely try it out.

You go home and you bury your boy

A single father raising his son in the country is struck by tragedy one inauspicious day. While tending to his store, a group of frisky teenagers driving dirt bikes kills his son. The father seeks the aid of an old woman to obtain revenge on the reckless teenagers. The old woman conjures a spirit known as Pumpkinhead to obtain revenge on the kids.

"God damn you."
"He already has."

Stan Winston, director of A Gnome Named Gnorm, delivers Pumpkinhead. The storyline for this picture is actually worthwhile for the horror genre. The character, specifically the old woman, was fascinating and well presented. The acting was better than anticipated and includes Lance Henriksen, Jeff East, and George Flower.

"Keep away from pumpkinhead unless you're tired of living."

For a low budget movie with Lance Henriksen starring to give the film credibility, this film isn't half bad. The special effects are just okay, but the settings are marvelous and well selected/created. The premise for the film was well thought-out and the horror elements are solid throughout the movie. I recommend seeing this film if you are a fan of the horror genre.

"I can't tell you what I don't know."

Pumpkinhead is a low-budget horror film that surprised me by being throughly entertaining, in a campy kind of way. The movie is done well and it is evident that the lack of budget pushed the filmmakers harder to create a memorable horror film.

The plot is good (father seeking revenge), the occult feeling is effective, and the characters are indeed memorable. The witch is actually far scarier than Pumpkinhead. She is creepy as hell. Pumpkinhead himself (itself?) isn't all that scary, but I was surprised by the way the creature looks. Admittedly, I expected a monster with a pumpkin for a head. I guess that makes me an idiot for assuming. What the story lacks in originality (kids being terrorized by a monster) it makes up for with wonderful occult undertones and campiness.

Pumpkinhead was released in the late '80s and is a widely forgotten horror movie. However, the film continues to enjoy a strong cult following that even spawned 3 sequels.

Sometimes the horror genre spits out more useless trash than is necessary. It is unfortunate that sometimes the bad ones are big box office draws. If we get too discouraged, it can be easy to forget that there are other places to look for great horror entertainment. Follow the cults because that is where countless great horror films, such as Pumpkinhead, can be found.

The cult never lies.

As a low budget horror movie watching it as a child scared the living daylights out of me. Watching it again now that I have more knowldge as to what goes into a movie I must say for its time period, great special effects as well as great character bulding. For a B horror movie it's a cult classic and will remain this way for years to come.

A very creepy low-budget monster movie. Lance Henrikson is classic, the cinematography is amazing, and the monster is what nightmares are made of. Go see this right away.

A very nice creature flick, the shape of which reminding me somewhat of "Alien", sure worth watching, despite some flaws, who cares, if the monster is that cool, I ain't
