Not that funny. I was expecting a hilarious sequel to the first, which of course is what it looks like.

One thing I liked was the actual stereotypicality of the nerds. I was expecting them to all have glass, pen pouches and were badly dressed, but no, it's more on the kind of "The Big Bang Theory" Nerd thing. It's not as funny as the Big Bang though.

Also, I think this movie series started the name "Nerd" to smart people, which was formerly "dag." It is quite mediocre, but I think the writers really tried hard with the writing. "Nerd's in Paradise, what could we do?"

The story really pulls out anything that could solve a situation. I'm serious, an island (Obviously Gilligans Island) was a army training base? Are you for real? I believe the rapping scene really grabbed the actual "rapping" songs quite well. Alot of movies made after this failed with the rapping eg. Vanilla Ice, Kazaam, Bebe's kids etc. That was a real surprise.

All the Nerds are likable, but one thing really made me wonder. Dudley's character changed way too quickly from a pervert to a normal nerd. Through the beginning and opening credits he was saying to random women at the airport disgusting things and getting slapped. This was sad considering that they were some of the funniest jokes in the movie. To be honest, Dudley wasn't much of a Nerd anyway.

I didn't see the point in that sensei guy living across from the nerds in that random hotel. It really made me wonder how pointless he was. The main Nerd's love interest was amazingly smart. I really wasn't expecting that. One more thing was that, I thought those Nerds were smart enough to know not to smoke pot. What's up with that?

The ending is classic.

I wouldn't reccommend it a whole lot, but if you are a smart person, you should see it. There is no movie like it. Nostalgia can help this movie, but also eat away at it, so if you are looking at a modern funny nerd thing, just watch The Big Bang Theory...

Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise is basically like re watching the first Revenge of the Nerds film without Anthony Edwards and an intriguing storyline. Robert Carradine is still really funny as the leader of the Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity and great comic relief is provided from Booger and the gay black guy. The problem with this one is that it does not come with anything original and fails to seperate itself from the first. The movie is very predictable and much more generic than the first. This is not to say the movie is terrible, because it still provides lots of laughs. The problem is that the directin and writing is not as focused and it does not look like they are trying hard enough to provide a central message. Overall, Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise is very mediocre but still has some very funny parts.

Kool and the Gang...er...yeah...

The eighties were pretty much the Time of the Disappointing Sequels. Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise boasts not only a totally lame title, but also failure after failure at physical comedy and a whole mess of witless banter I don't care to hear again. It's watchable, but not any good. *1/2 (out of ****) D+

Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987)

Although, cheesy it's really not any worse than the first movie. It's not quite as funny but not very far off at all from the first.

The Nerds and their fraternity are sent to a convention in Fort Lauderdale Florida. The Nerds look forward to fun in the sun and spending some time with their fraternity brethren. However, leave it to the Alpha Beta's to make the nerds feel unwanted and unworthy of this dubious selection to participate on the council. The Alpha Beta's get the nerds kicked out of their hotel, and they try to get them kicked off the council. With Gilbert stuck at home with a broken leg, Lewis will have to rally the troops to victory.

"We're V.I.P."
"Very Immense Penises."

Joe Roth, director of Streets of Gold, America's Sweethearts, Freedomland, and Christmas with the Kranks, delivers Revenge of the Nerds 2. The storyline for this film is fun and entertaining. It is rare for a film in this genre's sequel to be as entertaining as the original picture. The storyline might not be as believable as the first film, but as an overall movie, it was equally as entertaining.

"I think they're going to sacrifice a virgin."
"I hope not. A virgin is a terrible thing to waste."

The packing scenes during the opening credits, the pager, the "check-out time" reference, the Indian sacrifice sequence, the weed session on the island, the scenes at the nerd's hotel, the tank driving through the council meeting, and the final punch were amongst the better portions of the film.

"Anxiety makes me flatulent."
"Take a valium or something."

I always found the nerds films to be fascinating. The idea of creating nerd's movies where one takes a select group that contains individuals that the audience remembers from their high school days, and makes a movie depicting them in a positive light was extremely entertaining. The acting is solid; but what truly makes the film series works is the awkward scenarios the nerds are placed in. I strongly recommend this series to those who are fans of the 80's.

"I think I'm the only guy in the world that could break his leg playing chess."
