Snake Eyes is not great movie, but its decent, and entertaining for the most part. First of all, the story was pretty stupid, and the twist ending was kinda dumb. Snake Eyes tries way to hard to be a great thriller, and ends up tripping over itself. The acting wasn't to bad over all, but it wasn't great, and could have been way better. The action scenes were ok, but they weren't that great. By the end of the movie I just didn't care. But overall, Snake Eyes is entertaining, so I guess its passable.

depalma doing what he does best, making average films with style. the film starts of promising but on the way it becomes increasingly silly and confusing. cage is over the top but he is in fine form, my main problem is letting the mystery slip half way through the film. this ploy loses its edge and sadly the film slips away towards the end. interesting and well acted but not the film it could have been

What started out as a decent mystery is undermined by the perpetrator staying at the scene, among other strange things that don't seem to add up. Don't waste your time because you will only be disappointed.

WHO THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A MOVIE WHERE A GIRL EATS SOME SORT OF ANCIENT SHROOM IN WHICH SHE CAN SEE THE FUTURE. THAT MEANS SHE CAN PREDICT WHEN HER FRIENDS ARE GOING TO DIE!! YAY...I WONDER WHY SHE COULDN'T HAVE PREDICTED HOW RETARDED THIS WANNABE HORROR FILM TURNED OUT.

NIC CAGE COMPLETELY POWNED IN THIS MOVIE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS FOR THIS ONE. BRIAN DE PALMA AND DAVID KOEPP BRING ME ALONG FOR ONE HELL OF AN EXCITING RIDE. GREAT PERFORMANCE BY CAGE AND SINISE. AMAZING CINEMATOGRAPHY AND STORY. THE ENDING IS A BIT FAR FETCHED...BUT OTHER THAN THAT...IT'S A VERY ENTERTAINING, WELL MADE FILM WITH NIC CAGE!

After bringing to light the not-so-hard-to-guess bad guy early in the movie, it really seemed to lose steam... and my interest. Sadly, there wasn't a lot of suspense or action, which were two things I was really hoping for when deciding to watch this. I should've looked at some other reviews on here first, because it seems like a lot of people agree with me on this one.

Snake Eyes (1998)

This movie was ok but it was extremely predictable. I also thought the last 4 or 5 minutes of the movie were completely pointless.

Blade Runner - The Director's Cut (Scott, 1982)
8/10

Nicolas Cage uncovers a big conspiracy in the wake of a Senator's assassination. He and Gary Sinise give typical, but nonetheless, cool performance. However, the camera is the main star of De Palma's Snake Eyes. It creates tension in this by-the-numbers suspense thriller by showing everybody's perspective before and after the assassination (Rashomon, anyone?) Depending upon whose perspective it is, the camera is either lurking in the background, or it's right in-your-face. It also creates tension from the impending hurricane that's right outside the boxing arena. The perfect word to describe the camera work would be hypnotic. If you like De Palma, or are interested in studingcamera movements, then give this cool film a try.

Very Hitchcockian, but mediocre.
