Let me start by saying that I was 12 when I saw this. I'm 15 now. I was not a super-movie person like I am now and therefore, this was just another film. I am less critical because unlike other people, I did not have this being my most anticipated film of year, or even the decade, and therefore was not heavily and thoroughly disappointed. I still am disappointed though.

Let me start this unprofessionally.

OMFG! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE! THERE WAS ONLY ONE WAY, ONE WAY, THAT THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT BAD. THAT ONE WAY HAPPENED. THEY PUT SO MUCH FU*KING STUFF IN IT THAT IT BLEW ITS OWN A*S OFF.

That's about it right there. The main problem with the film is the fact that there was too much. When you hear that the first two films had one villain and then you hear this has three, you naturally assume that Raimi could pull it off and make it three times better than the other two.

Wrong.

The rant above is the reason for this film being bad. Here is a list (although I do not like making lists in reviews) of things that were cut short or made bad by the fact that there were three villains and a lot of romance.

-We never got to see Thomas Haden Church's (Flint Marko/Sandman) full potential. He was cut short on a bit of parts. He is a villain fighting for the right cause on the wrong the side. That type of villain could have been very interesting because it is a type that is not often seen. We never got to see how well he could have done with an appropriate amount of screen time.

-Venom's story was not good. I disliked that it was basically Peter's story only he turned bad instead of good. It could have been better and Venom could have been the best villain seen in a long time. Norman and Otto had such great backstories given with great character depth. Flint and Eddie Brock (Venom) were not given that great story.

-New Goblin seemed thrown in there for just extra action and story. Also...

WHY THE HE*L DID THEY HAVE THE BUTLER WAIT TO TELL HARRY HOW HIS FATHER REALLY DIED? NATURALLY, IF SOMEONE SUDDENLY DIES WITH BLADE HOLES IN HIS STOMACH, YOU CAN ASSUME THAT HE KILLED HIMSELF WITH HIS GLIDER. THEY HAVE THE BUTLER SIT AND DO NOTHING WHILE HARRY TRIES TO KILL SPIDERMAN FOR NOTHING!?!?!?! I MEAN, NO AUTOPSY? ANYTHING? I was really questioning some choices made there.

-The romance is mixed up and just wrong in places.

The film should have been either:

-Sandman and New Goblin, with Sandman getting a backstory similar to the one Otto got and New Goblin getting more action scenes. Sandman then would have his clash with Spiderman in the end where he realized he should stop, similar to what happened to Doc Ock. There would be less romance in this.

or...

-Venom and New Goblin with Venom taking on the big villain role with a much bigger story, similar to Norman Osborn, and have New Goblin be the side villain for the first half. Romance would have been heavier in this, since Peter would be wearing the black suit and have conflicts.

Either of those would have made better films. I wish it could have happened like that. If it did, we would be seeing Spiderman 4 possibly coming out next year.

Why give a 50 though? With the things I mentioned, you might see me giving it a 20 or 30.

What I loved was the story of the black suit and Peter's emotions. That church tower scene, I thought, was very emotional and quite a powerful scene. The effects and action were good to, but while the characters and the timing was messed up, the story was still alright. Not the characters, all but Parker/Spidey, the characters were not given enough time to shine or be good. The story was ok though. The black suit story was great and the ending was pretty good.

The series does not deserve to be fully tainted for this film, it should be given credit. Overall, it is a very good trilogy and will be in my books for a long time. Unless Iron Man or the Spiderman reboot can be better, this is still and will be my favorite superhero series ever.

This was a lot better than what critics give it credit for. The action was just crazy. It's not the best in the Spiderman series but still a very good movie.

I was very sad. This one had a lot of plot lines that were, followable. But I found it was too "ooohh thats so sad" or you were trying to be made to feel bad for Peter Parker but really what I wanted was some really good action scenes. And there were, but there was actually only a couple. A big dissapointment, I wish it could have done better.

I rate this low because it deserves, but I still like the Spider-Man movies and other comic book movies. Maybe it's because I always took my brother's action figures when I was little and played with them... First one is the best.

This is one a the few modern movies I've seen shoot it's own foot by simply overdoing everything. This movie really attempted to take everything that worked about 1 & 2 and just up the ante. That is, unfortunately, not a recipe for a good movie. For example, it is a tactic that was used in revenge of the fallen and we all know how well that one went. So let's dive in.

First the positives. The acting. The acting is actually still pretty good here. Tobey Maguire by this point has really cemented himself as Spider-man. Think about it. When you think of Spidey, do you think of the cartoon or Tobey. I would put good money that it's Tobey. Kirsten...does her part. Truthfully, I never got what Peter saw in Mary-Jane. And James Franco is well...it's James Franco, course you're gonna get a good performance. The action is also good. Very easy to follow, explosion filled yet tension filled and not running off simply entertaining people because things are blowing up.

Now the negatives. The plot is cluttered. The plot line with the New Goblin is fantastic! And through the use of the plot of Sandman could have easily been combined into something that would have easily lived up to the hype. However, the random addition of the black symbiote and Venom was what everyone came for and then he ended up being barely a single part of this massive, intricate story line. If they had just used Venom alone with maybe something small about Harry thrown in they probably would have been good as well but all three just overwhelmed the screen and my skull. Seriously, there was no need for this much plot. Two would have worked perfectly with a man plot and the other accentuating it. Or even just one! Doc Oc and the Green Goblin proved that you just need one villain to make a damn good Spider man movie.

Unfortunately, I gotta say. Don't see this movie. The acting's fine and the actions good but the plot just got so overwhelmed that it ruins everything. Just go see the other two and if you already have I suggest the new Batman series. They seem to be doing quite well recently.

I know why this installment was not as good as the other two: The fact that Sony basically forced Sam Raimi to include Venom in the storyline. If they hadn't done so, this would have been a much different (and superior) film. Other than that, though, the action is very good, as is the acting (including Dunst for once!).
