Just watched this and don't really get the 39% rating on RT. I was entertained and never bored with what was going on. It looked great, the actors were great, and the story was good. And the music was good.

Not a bad movie,actually......long on action, short on plot, which isnt always a bad thing.Watching all those surrogates die was an amazing bit of choreography.
I always like Bruce Willis action movies. He is aged but he's still doing it

This is another horrible comic book adaptation that doesn't even try to be original. The action scenes were boring me AND Bruce Willis.

Although this movie was highly entertaining, I had know idea of what it was about.Bruce Willis does a great job as the film's lead. There is something missing from this film.I know what it is,it's a plot.I would still reccommend this film even though it has a poorly developed plot because it does manage to entertain you.

When i saw the first trailer i didn't know what to think, then I saw it and it's a great way to get a SCI-FI fix.

I wanted to like this movie, but I just didn't buy in to the whole "surrogate" premise. I doubt the whole world would stay in bed just to watch robots live their lives for them.

It could have worked if this movie could have been a little more mindblowing and "Matrix-y," rather than just another action movie. It had all the potential and a great cast to do just that.

It just didn't.

Looks great, Bruce Willis is a strong lead, good action even if there is little of it and a great concept however it doesn't deliver as well as it could of but it is enjoyable.

Robots tend to be easy targets in most science fiction stories. In fact, perhaps the most common theme among science fiction stories, is how robots will be the downfall of humanity.

Sure, each story will have its own spin to the tale, but if you think about it, they usually play out and end the same way. Things will start off innocently enough, robots being created to help humanity. Soon, one thing leads to another, and bam, the end of humanity as we know it. Or, in some cases, on the verge of the end of humanity.

This is a similar tale of such woe. In an effort to provide those humans with disabilities the chance to experience life, Surrogates were created. Think of them as human like avatars, like in that one movie. Soon, the military gets interested, other uses are discovered, and within a period of almost 20 years, they become as common as cell phones are today. Nearly every one has one, and uses them for their everyday life. People are locked away safely in their houses and apartments, hooked up to these Surrogates who are damn near invincible. There is no pain, almost no crime, and general sense of happiness in the world. For most, at least.

As with any group, there is opposition. There are factions across the globe who find these machines to be abominations and preach that use of such things is anti-human. This opposition is in the minority and thus are relegated to camps across the world where they are allowed to live in peace without interacting with the machines. Our story focuses on one guy in particular who finds a way to kill a Surrogate (which is not impossible, but difficult) and at same time, it kills the operator (which should not be possible due to fail safes.)

This incident sparks a story of morality, grief, betrayal, and even redemption. Even though they could have easily made this a more "preachy" movie, they did good enough as it was. I found myself entertained, and even surprised by a twist or two. I won't go so far as to call it predictable, because I said in the beginning, you already know the basic idea behind it, but the characters unique to this particular telling are interesting enough to keep your attention.

My overall opinion is that it's worth your time. Check it out and don't forget to think about it a little yourself. What would you choose if you had the chance to live life with a Surrogate?

Parts of it just didn't make sense. For instance, why would you have robots killing other robots in war? Where is that going to get you? Just to see whose robots are more capable? (Not that war with actually people makes much sense either.) Also, when they say crime is pretty much non-existent, I don't buy it. Maybe murder but people are obviously going to commits crimes when using their surrogates. And who's to stop them from going into people's houses and murdering someone while they are using their surrogate?

Anyway, the concept in generally was interesting, although I don't think it is likely to ever happen in the future. The movie was entertaining enough but poorly executed and little to say in the end.
