I guess this is Angelina's attempt to better her husband. This is no where near as good as "Seven".

For the record, Ethan Hawke is a bad actor. However, this movie was doomed from the beginning. It is ridiculous, stupid, and predictable.

I don't know why Sutherland even blinked at this crap.

"Taking Lives" takes you for a wild bone-chilling, heart-pacing, nerve-racking thrill ride. Jolie and Hawke explode on screen together!

As for now, I've seen this movie numerous times. Actually, I just rewatched it yesterday on TV.
And every time I had to ask myself why Angelina Jolie, such an awfully beautiful woman, a great actress chooses shitty movies like that?
To show her tits? That's what sells, but come on, are some standards too much to ask for?
I can understand that Ethan Hawke wouldn't get any better roles, but her? Why her?
This movie is boring, absolutely stupid, unsuspenseful and the actors are all together crap!

This movie was pretty entertaing it had a great concept to it. It's a bit predictable but just ingnore that kind of stuff and enjoy it.

The movie is based on a killer who kills people and takes thier identity. He basically lives there lifes. He gets a simlar job, he takes thier social and credit. He does it for a short amount of time and moves on to the next victim. Jolie is a FBI agent looking for him.

The movie has good twists and might head towards ridclous but it's a good B movie. Just to pass the time.

I can't understand the hate toward this movie; the acting was great, Jolie especially the twist was very exciting and unexpected, one of my all time favorite thrillers.

Lengthy and boring. Only the end was a surprise.

May be a bit predictable but it looks great, Jolie is on top form and an unexpected ending make this a midly entertaining thriller.

Pretty good performances from Hawke and Jolie (who I can't stand). But the plot isn't much and its not too hard to figure out.

The genuine idea behind the story was really good I think, somewhere along the way things got worse though.

We follow a case of a serial killer who takes the identities of his victims... For the most part, the movie takes place in Montreal where the local Police ask for the help of special agent Illeana Scott (Angelina Jolie). There's a breakthrough, for the first time a witness of the murder has emerged, an art dealer and painter James Costa (Ethan Hawke).

The acting, well, it's good, really good, maybe even too good. Why too good? Because it exposes the weaknesess of the movie even more, especially the sometimes simplistic and cheesy dialogue. Also there's like this battle between Hawke and Jolie as to who takes the movie over. The characters are sometimes overly suggestive. The character played by Olivier Martinez is horribly annoying.

The story is pretty good, I think that maybe the reason people could consider it too predictive is because of the poor dialogues and the way the characters develop. With such a cast and a better script the movie could have been much better. The opening to the movie is very good and climatic (Justin Chatwin's small part), the ending being still pretty satisfying. Between those two I have mixed feelings.

Overall "Taking Lives" is a decent movie, quite impressive visually with good acting and a nice atmosphere but it could have been much better... I have to say I enjoyed it mostly because of Ethan Hawke's performance and Jolie's charm.
