Eliza Dushku, I thought, gave a good performance, and the overall film was good. Towards the end however they seem to have gotten lazy in itself. Were the ghost kids really nessesary? No, if they were left out then the movie would have been better. Why is it that the killer is always somebody the investegater knows? that also ruined what could have been a decent twist. Good, but then it gets bad from there.

Megan, an obsessively driven police investigator, and her fiance Kenneth, also a police officer, are both working on a grisly murder case. When the case can't be cracked Megan is pushed over the edge and ends up in a psychiatric hospital. Two years later she returns to work and another girl is soon murdered, convincing her the killer has returned, but with few leads and no key suspects will the 'Alphabet Killer' go free or can Megan pull it together in time to catch him?

Mediocre. The "based on a true story" tagline placed on any movie these days is a complete joke. What they really mean is "loosely inspired on real events" because the fact is that this was just a fictional story that's murder's are lossely similar. The film was quite boring, and apart from once or twice being thrown back by the loud score, the film really had no scary moments. Suspense, tension and mind games were aplenty, but the film failed in pulling off the resolutions to them, and the ending was a terrible and atrocious way to finish because it just made the film even more unsensational. Not once would I ever believe that this was inspired by true events.

"Rob Schmidt" directed by favourite film of all time, "Wrong Turn", but this film is a major dissapointment. His effort's at trying to put elements of props and useless nicks and nacks in clear view to try makes us suspicious was pointless and sometimes irritating. The plot, again, was dragged on and a pretty big exaggeration on what would happen in real life. All characters were unlikeable most of the time, and some were extremely underused.

The acting was mediocre. "Eliza Dushku" is amazing, but she was terrible at the start of this film, but then as it went along she seemed to be more believable. I can't take her seriously as a cop though, it just didn't work. "Cary Elwes" was extremely underused, and because of that, his characters always seemed suspicious.

Overall "The Alphabet Killer" is a huge dissapointment from the director of my #1 film "Wrong Turn", and it's unsuccessful in being scary or thrilling, and it's a sligh bore. My rating is 1.5/5

Utter dissapointment. Picture a plane coming in 20 minutes late with one engine sputtering and a wing tip on fire while everyone is saying it's ok. Well it's not with this film!

I think the movie deserves more credit than it has been given. I wasn't at all bored while watching the movie. I felt there were really 2 parts to it. There's the suspense/Mystery of the murder investigations, which you expected there to be, and then there is the psychological aspect. It shows the progression of the case through the viewpoint of the character with Schizophrenia. People don't believe her ideas because of the illness she suffers from that makes her seem crazy from the get go. The ironic thing is that she is dead on even if at a certain point she is convinced that its all a coincidence. Still there is more to unfold in the mystery aspect of the movie as it proceeds. I actually really liked how her psychosis ties in with the murder case, At times I felt like you're not totally sure which facts are real and which are blown out of proportion, and I think that was 100% intentional. Dushku did an incredible job playing the part. I don't think it could have been done better. I've said my piece.

Interesting story, but poorly staged. The execution leaves you baffled at why it was even attempted in the first place.

Eliza Dushku is pretty good as detective investigating a string of child murders. Her own mental state is drawn into question the deeper she submerges herself into the case.

The film purports to be based on a true story, but it must be in the most loosest of degrees. Throughout ghostly figures of the victims appear to her in various Grudge-like incarnations, making the picture more horror/sci-fi than anything close to reality. The ending itself is so poor that underscores the entire premise and leaves one scratching their head.

Being from Rochester, NY when I first heard about this movie I was very interested in seeing it being familiar with the murders from the 1970s. I thought the film was going to be a step-by-step dramatization of actual events. Instead the film is a supernatural travesty about a schizophrenic police officer, Eliza Dusku, who "sees dead people" portrayed by Megan Paige putting in a performance that emulates the acting of any daytime soap opera.

The movie takes place modern day. I understand this is probably for budgetary reasons as finding period vehicles, clothing, and dressing locales could become expensive. Maybe the filmmakers should have spent their budget more on making a period piece than sticking in actors like Cary Elwes or Timothy Hutton who both put in solid enough performances, but don't need to be there. In fact it would have been smarter to hire a couple actors who audiences may not be so familiar with.

With the above said the blame of why this film is such a disaster is Tom Malloy's screenplay that makes it look like he did zero research about the actual events that are supposed the be the driving force of this film. His plot points make no sense, his pacing is all over the place, and his characters have no dimension. What is most laughable is he actually ended the film with the possibility of a sequel as the film's real killer got away after a ridiculous climax. Malloy also acted in the film and also did a solid job. Knowing this I find it hilarious that he wrote a kissing scene between himself and the leading lady. I guess if I was a writer starring in my own film and Megan Fox was casted I would write in a kissing scene between my character and her. Perhaps Malloy will do us all a favor and stick to acting.

Director Rob Schmidt shouldn't go with out blame. I don't have issue with how the film was shot, but maybe he should find better scripts as he continues his career.

Moderately interesting crime thriller. There are too many slow stretches therefore reducing ones interest in the film. Okay performances, good atmosphere, but it lacks punch.
