I was dazzled by this film. The shooting was beautiful and the character of Howard Hughes was so interesting. Leo did a great job in capturing everything about him and really bringing the character back to life. I especially liked towards the end when Hughes OCD becomes blatantly obvious and the character descends into madness only to resurface and triumph. Leo just gives an all around great performance. Cate Blanchett does a great job as well.

With an obsessive-compulsive DiCaprio who makes the audience want to twitch, The Aviator is yet another masterpiece created by the sensational Martin Scorsese.

A great film but a tad too long. Cate Blanchet's wonderful performance of Katharine Hepburn will leave you shocked and so surprised. I very much enjoyed it although Leo DiCaprio's performance was not as good as one would hope.

Amazing reconstruction of not only the extraordinaire character of Howard Hughes but also the reconstruction of a whole era. The beautiful times before WWII.
Great done biography, a whole work where every detail has been checked 100 times.
Amazing sets, gorgeous costumes.
Shots are gorgeous, and show the finest art of cinematography.
DiCaprio's performance was terrific.
I'm pretty sure that this one comes in his top 5 best roles ever.
He showed us the evolution of Howard through the story, and showed it with so much feeling for the character that you could fully understand every single emotion,..
Cast is overall great also, not only DiCaprio.
Soundtrack has been chosen perfect and suits with all the scene's just very smoothly.
Watching this film I didn't get tired for a second, as the screenplay was done very very well.
Thumbs up for the writers!

Overall this movie shows great masterwork of a high level director.
It shows us the possibilities of all kinds of movies - Action/Romantic/Emotional/Classic/...
Hundreds of variations of different cinematographic situations.. And all in one film.
And that's what's so good about this movie.

Simply wonderful. The Aviator is an extremely interesting film from The Master himself, Martin Scorsese. It chronicles the life of eccentric aviator/filmmaker Howard Hughes through some of his biggest conquests. The plot is simple enough, but the execution of the film was always going to be its strongpoint. It might be obvious to people now, but I'm sure there was always the question of who could pull off the role of such an icon. Leonardo Dicaprio pulled it off masterfully. From his accent to all the little ticks, he became Howard Hughes, and for that I applaud him. Cate Blanchett also turns in a very good performance as Kate Hepburn and earned herself a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for it. Her performance was received with a little more distain than Dicaprio's, but it was solid nonetheless. This is a grandeur Scorsese flick with big budget written all over it. The best American filmmaker today shows that he can make a nearly three hour movie fly by while keeping things fresh with great camerawork and an uncanny feel of authenticity. The sets are amazing. This might not be his absolute masterpiece, but The Aviator shows a legendary filmmaker at top form and a young actor displaying his finest performance to date.

The Aviator is another masterful Scorsese picture (I'm playing major catch-up with his work). Amazing performances from DiCaprio and Cate Blanchett, coupled with a strong supporting cast, beautiful art direction, costumes, and cinematography, and a true sense of Hollywood grandeur, all drive this exciting film. The screenplay and direction are excellent, too. Watching this makes me even more excited for Shutter Island next week.
