kinda pretentious, but i liked it. maybe because i'm a huge doors fan...i don't know. Val Kilmer does one a heck of a job playing Jim Morrison, but was it just me of did he kinda have the same facil expression the whole movie, which made it hard to feel out his emotions. but all in all it's a pretty sweet movie.

Jim Morrison rose from the grave and snatched Val Kilmers body. Intense, provocative, and bold. The Doors took me to the other side.

A great Portrait of Jim Morrison (Dude this Guy was really freaked out but a Genius) with a great Val Kilmer, the grandious Music of The Doors and beautiful Pictures of that lovely Time

Although THE DOORS might not be Oliver Stone's best moment in directing history, it is certainly one of his best, and you can see he re-used techniques that he used in the doors and put into Natural Born Killers, like the face-morphing he had during the acid trip in the doors, he used the same technique in Natural Born Killers during a shroom trip out in the desert! The doors is definately one of Stones best movies!

I found this movie over all well done, and Val Kilmer was amazing. But what's with the indian who keeps popping up through the movie?

This I think was a breakout role for Val Kilmer. He really does capture the true essence of who Jim Morrison really was.

I'm still not sure what Oliver Stone's movie is about. The only emotion it creates in me is repulsion. There's no real message or theme in it. Val Kilmer does a nice Jim Morrison impersonation, and Oliver Stone can paint some haunting images on the screen, but I have to admit that I liked the group a lot less after seeing this film.

The Doors is one of the worst films I have ever seen. The Doors are my favorite band and I can tell you that most of what you see in the film is completely false. Now there were some things in the film that were good such as Val Kilmers performance. I thought he did a great job playing Jim Morrison but had to play him the way that Oliver Stone wrote the character which makes Jim seem like a bumbling, stupid drunk with no point in life other than to show his genitals onstage. Now Jim was a drunk and he had dabled in drugs but the film shows him doing way more drugs than he ever did. The movie was very strongly based on John Densmore's (Who was the drummer for The Doors) book "Riders on the Storm". It has been said that John Densmore hated Jim and I havent read the book yet but I would think that all of it is negative information about Morrison. I will saw Stone did a good job directing the film but I wish he could have written the movie more to the facts than the made-up material. The way the film depicts Morrison is not the way he wanted to be seen. He wanted to be seen as an artist and poet and he was a damn good one. Now if you hate The Doors or you know nothing about them, you may like this movie, but if you are a die hard Doors fan like me, you will probably hate this film. ONE STAR!

It is different than most music biopics, but it never really rises above a documentary. Kilmer is good as Morrison, but Ryan is rather annoying, which may have been the point, but you don't really care enough about the character to give a shit. The music is worked into the film well, so its at least a pretty good movie for Doors fans. The fact is that it just doesnt sustain your attention for the entire length of the movie. Uneven may be the word to describe it, but not bad.
