"We're gonna kill the mother Fu&*Ker!" Though not one of the best films in my collection, the Edge still earns its place in the movie goers home. Throughout the movie, the audience seems to be on the edge of their seats... sorry for the pun.. you never really know whats gonna happen. You don't know what'll become of the hunters. And all around, the outcome is quite un-pleasant. I only have one complaint though. THE BEAR ONLY KILLS ONE GUY!! When you watch a movie about three guys lost in the woods, you can't settle for one dude getting eaten by a bear, its all or nothing. Two, or three is a lot better than one.

An edge of your seat thrill ride that keeps you on your toes! The move doesn't really start to pick up until 30 minutes into the film. Hopkins & Baldwin shine in this movie. One of my favorite films from the 90's!

When Alec Baldwin, Anthony Hopkins and Elle Macpherson combine for cinema it seems a surprise that the end result was and has never been the subject of critical or commercial success. More surprisingly so given the impressive nature of their performances in a simple yet deep film.

Aging billionaire Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) accompanies his younger, trophy-wife Mickey (Elle Macpherson) on a photo-shoot in Alaska where a surprise birthday party, led by Mickey's photographer Bob (Alec Baldwin), is held. The relationship between Charles and Bob is one of mutual distrust-Charles suspects Bob of having an affair with his wife whilst Bob is scathing of Charles' status. The pair are plunged into a survival situation when their plane crashes, stranding their party in the Alaskan wilderness and pursued by a man-eating bear (Bart the Bear).

Essentially simple, the creation of 'The Edge' is much like its reception; efficiency and understatement hiding an intelligent set of philosophical questions. The questioning does not detract from the tension of a series of striking action sequences, just as the realism of Bob and Charles' situation and its gory consequences heighten, rather than belittle, the poignancy in 'The Edge's' philosophy.

Hopkins and Baldwin's performances are the epitome of all that succeeds in 'The Edge'. Both are quiet and assured, bringing the ability to draw out a script that cunningly explores male relationships.

The terrifying thing about the grizzly bear is that they can run, dig, swim and climb twice as fast as we can...

It's Jaws in the woods but in reality sharks hate the taste of human flesh, they usually mistake our surfboards for seals, they take one bite (which can be enough to kill) and let go... where as bears? Yep, they love a bit of man-beef on the menu and quite frankly, thats terrifying!

Even without 'winnie the poo gone mad' a different side to this story is a gripping tale of love, hate, will, trust and survival. You have to see it.

We've got a problem with bears around here

Charles Morse is a rich older man who is married to a super model. While on an Alaskan photo shoot, the photographer demands to have an authentic Indian involved in the shoot. To obtain the local Indian, Charles offers to fly the photographer to the Indian's house. Their voyage concludes with their plane crashing and Charles and the photographer being stuck in the wilderness. Further complicating matters is a ferocious man eating grizzly bear hunting them down.

"What one man can do, another can do."

Lee Tamahori, director of Mulholland Falls, Along Came a Spider, xXx State of the Union, Die Another Day, Next, and the upcoming The Devil's Double, delivers The Edge. The storyline for this picture is a bit predictable; however, the character development and script are marvelous. The acting is better than solid and the cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin, Elle Macpherson, and Bart of the Bear.

"Most people lost in the world die of shame."

This picture originally grabbed my attention when I recognized that Sir Anthony Hopkins starred in this picture. He is usually very particular when selecting scripts and this did not seem like his kind of picture; however, he was perfect for the lead character. While this was not an original picture, this was a fascinating film worth your time. If you are a fan of Hopkins, you should see this picture.

"Never feel sorry for a man who owns a plane."

2.5 years in Alaska, this movie was spot on in the beauty and in isolation. Don't believe what you see and you could be the next to be eaten. I'm lucky I came back alive. Not just a movie, a reality. go there ready to be amazed.

i'm not gonna lie, it was a little un entertaining at first, then at this one momment, where anthony hopkins says, so how are you gonna kill me. i was pulled strait in at that momment! it got quiet good and got to a mildley good climax and it worked.

but something else. anthony hopkins is the hero, and we've seen him a good guy some times, but it really worked this time and i liked him as the good guy, but alic boldwin to me makes not the best villian, just doesn,t work. i say watch the film alot!
