This is the baddest, most dated, diabolical piece of cheese Shane Black has ever attached his name to. I don't know how much of his writing was removed or altered by Tony Scott, but the dialogue is terribly superficial. That being said, if any of the poor qualities mentioned above had been improved upon, the entertainment value would plummet. Not many films work like that, but this is certainly one of them. Bruce Willis seizes some seriously epic moments badassery, followed of course by a killer piece of dialogue. The cinematography marks the beginning of Scott's obscenely busy technique, but that contributes to the plot, which is colorful and underexposed itself. Great badguys, tons of nudity, blood, and profanity. Last Boy Scout flat out rules. It's the balls of the 90s.

I picked this little gem up for only $6.99 (Aus money) on the weekend, and because i had never heard of it and got it for the soul reason that Bruce willis was in it, i thought it would be crap, i thought wrong. The effects are dazzling (for 90's standards), the action is up there with that of die hard, and funnily enough the plot is pretty good as well. I know the critics gave the movie under 50%, but put it this way, if your a guy and you like Die Hard, you will like this movie.

I did enjoy this film a lot. I think it was mostly because of Bruce Willis. This was classic Bruce Willis with tons of action and catchy funny lines. He was teamed up with Damon Wayans who at first seemed like he should not be in the movie, but you get use to him. Wayans is just an added comic relief. If it wasn't for that, then he would not make sense to put in the film. So overall, pretty enjoyable and a classic action Willis film.

I think every action star goes through this type of movie where the action is good, the dialogue is usually pretty bad, they team up with an unlikely costar, and take on a low-level character actor as the main bad guy. Your enjoyment of this type of movie depends largely on your ability to appreciate the self-aware lack of quality in them. I think of movies like City Heat, Tango & Cash, and The Last Boy Scout as exhibits A, B, and C.

The Last Boy Scout is shot a lot grittier than typical Bruce Willis actioners, though it retains his rough charm, which sort of meshes well with the cinematography. The dialogue is rough and profane, but not the worst in the genre. The action is nice and bloody throughout, in an almost tongue-in-cheek/campy way. Willis' character thinks nothing of shoving a man's nose into his brain, and an entire stadium filled with civilians actually cheers when they see a man get torn apart by helicopter blades (ostensibly, the blood would spatter half the stadium that way, but everyone's laughing and cheering).

An image from this movie that stayed with me for a long time when I was younger is the opening sequence, where a football player pulls out a gun and shoots a bunch of players and himself during a play. For some reason I could remember that scene more than the actual movie the first ten years after I watched it for the first time. It's a pretty jarring scene, especially for someone like me who is a huge fan of the NFL and football in general.

This isn't Willis' best, but it's passably enjoyable nonetheless. Nothing much to really recommend it unless you really like Willis or can't get enough like-minded action movies from the 90's.

The lost Die Hard film. Yeah, it's dumb, but Wayans and Willis made for a good duo here. Horror Icon Danielle Harris was also amusing as the foul mouthed daughter. It's one of the few Tony Scott films that I would even consider watching again.

I'll put it this way. The 90s were full of action movies, most repeating the same crap over and over again, and people may take a look at this movie and think it's like one of those movies too. But, it really isn't. The Last Boy Scout has a decent plot involving a world of sports corruption and crime involved with football. Bruce Willis stars as Joe Hallenback, a run down detective who pairs up with ex-quarterback Jeremy Dix, Damon Wayans, to go against the people involved with the crime and corruption. There's a little more to the plot than that, but I wouldn't wanna spoil much. Bruce Willis has a lot of hilarious one liners in this movie and his role in this movie, to me, is one of his finest. Damon Wayans pairs up pretty well with Willis too with some good moments too. This movie takes the action sequences you're used to seeing and executes them brilliantly with great shots and a lot of violence, making them worthawhile to watch. Thanks to great direction from Tony Scott, this movie is definately worth your time with a great plot, good cast, and great, well choreographed action sequences. Well recommended.
