Maybe not Oscar-worthy directing and cinematography, but who cares it's still such an awesome movie!

Some people base movies on every little detail that goes wrong, but sometimes you need to sit back, relax, and just enjoy the story they're presenting you with.

The cast is great (and attractive), it stays true to the book, and it is very intriguing.

My opinion may be biased since the book is one of my all-time favorites, but no matter what, I will always love this movie.

I loved the book, and I was so relieved when I loved the movie. An excellent commentary on social standings of the time, The Outsiders serves to show that good people are shaped in even the worst situations, true friends stick together, and that nothing gold can stay.

I am addicted to 'The Outsiders". It's full of amazing loveable characters, played by an all-star cast. The book is also one of my all time favorites. It's a great movie. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel things I never felt before.

While the book may be one of the best 60's society books ever written, the movie is just as good, in fact, at spots it's better. The first two Harry Potter films had the same problem this film had: it was just too faithful to the original novel, but it is still terrific. The actors include young Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevaz, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, and several others in the starring roles. Maybe not the best movie ever made, but it gets the job done and captures the emotions of the greasers and what anybody else would feel, including sadness, death, happiness, fame, and toughness. Well done.

Perhaps because I happen to live in Tulsa these days and I can relate to the place, I am enjoying tremendously Coppola's movies filmed in Tulsa back in the early eighties. Gangs, teenagers, lots of drama. Tulsa was and still is a tough city in the middle of the American prairies. The Outsiders movie -as in S.E. Hinton's book on which the movie is based- reflects all that toughness. A whole generation of young, talented actors made their debut in the big screen with this movie. The Ousiders is a great Coppola's experiment made in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Good to watch.

On it's own it's a good movie but due to the only available DVD of this film it's awful, in the directors cut Coppola changes the tone, score and overall sucks out the heart of the story. I could hardly watch the new version, the music kept me so uninterested and only three years ago (with the original version) i loved it. Coppola should have stuck with the final product.

Good adaptation of the book. Great story. It seemed like they didn't consider who they were casting for what role, only that they were getting big name stars but for the most part it's an enjoyable coming of age drama.
