Even for a Kevin Costner film this was bad, "You spelt Tyranny wrong!" Will Patton's among the best, but this film was among the worst. The only thing that I liked about it was that it ended.

The world has gone to shit and Will Patton treds on whats left of that shit with frequent malevolence. Our only hope is an out of work actor (kevin Costner).

This film attempts to deal with themes such as Sin, love, lust, hatred, forgiveness........in fact there isn't a theme it doesn't attempt to deal with. and there lies its problem. The production itself cant be faulted, the cinematography conjures an expansive environment for Costner to play in, but the film is too long and the script is fatter than an over fed labrador's buttocks.

Im sure Kevin Costner doesn't think, in general, film goers are stupid, so why, whilst making this film did he feel he had to spell out every scene with one momentous epic overtone after another? He understands the power of the spectacle, but thinks we don't and thus the film spends its entire 177 minutes insulting the viewers intelligence.

This nightmare, so closely following the wasteful waterworld led to Costner being an out of work actor himself and to this date has never had control of a blockbuster budget, in a directing capacity at least.

Not the best acting in the world, well some it like Costner's daughter was down right horrible. I wish they had worked on the storyline a bit more and recast some of the roles because the movie had some potential. A couple of bright spots were Larenz Tate as "Ford Lincoln Mercury" and Daniel von Bargen's performance as "Sheriff Briscoe".

Kevin Costner plays an actor is conscripted into a despots army, defects, and starts his own army of Postmen. I found this movie to be put together pretty well and if given the chance, most would enjoy it.

Maybe I'm too in love with the apocalyptic movies but I thought it was pretty entertaining. I thought the story was good enough and the acting was decent. That said, I can see why some people hate it.
