This movie is great with the Hong Kong stylised action. The story is straight forward and simple, though the dialouge is flat it is one of Chow's better American movies and the movie is entertaining.

This was just a good action movie. While the dialogue wasn't the best, what really made this movie shine is it's simplicity. The action scenes are intense and attention grabbing, and the cast was perfect for this movie. Plus, while Chow Yun Fat and Mira Sorvino have good chemisty, they keep it simple by excluding the inevitable romance, the usual "we're being chased nonstop by ruthless killers, but let's have sex for a few hours despite that fact." Although The Replacement Killers is no Oscar-winner, it is by far one of the best action films out there.

This movie has dull characters and acting, a paperthin plot, it progeresses at a very slow pace, has poor camerawork where the camera is up too close to the characters like its almost in the faces of the characters and boring action scenes. The acting in here is almost as bad as Steven Seagal's acting, it's that bad. It's camerawork looks like it was shot in a small studio by an amateur director. Fuck this movie, it's only redeemableb quality is that some as in very little of the parts in the action scenes are good, everything else fails on a very high level. 2/10

The Replacement Killers may not have lot dialouge but it's visual stlye is stunning. You mix that with Hong Kong action and you got yourselve an action picture.

Not my favorite film of Fuqua but by just looking at it you will be absorbed.

Serving as an executive producer, John Woo's action influence finds its way into this movie, and Antoine Fuqua has created a fairly entertaining directorial debut. Unfortunately, while it attempts to channel the excitement of John Woo/ Chow Yun-Fat classics like The Killer and Hard Boiled, it never achieves greatness.

its really hard watching a movie like this expecting a film like "hard boiled", "the killer", and "a better tomorrow". it dosent match the Chow Yun-Fat standard of action movies that I have come to expect.

Johnny is an assassin for hire for a Japanese Shanghai organization. When things don't go smoothly for the Shanghai organization, Johnny wipes out the roadblock. However, when Johnny is asked to alleviate a roadblock by killing a cop's seven-year-old son, Johnny turns down the mission. Now, the Shanghai organization views Johnny as the roadblock. The organization will hire two replacement killers to kill Johnny.

"What you lack in weight you make-up for in volume."

Antoine Fuqua, director of Bait, Training Day, Tears of the Sun, King Arthur, Shooter, and the upcoming Under and Alone (Mel Gibson), delivers the Replacement Killers. The Replacement Killers has an interesting storyline; however, it is far from the quality we have grown to expect from Chow Yun Fat films. Fuqua fails to delivers a storyline that is comparable to John Woo's work in this genre. Maria Sorvino was not as good in this film as I had hoped. She was cute, and delivered a solid character, but was not as believable as I had anticipated going into this picture.

"Is that an old boyfriend?"
"I try to stay in my own species."

The opening club shooting, the shootout in Meg's office, the interrogation scene between Meg and the cops, the car wash shootout, the arcade shootout, the movie theatre assassination attempt, and the kitchen shootout were amongst the better portions of the film.

"I never made a passport before for someone I didn't want to see leave."

The Replacement Killers was a film I had high hopes for. However, this film follows in a long line of bad American films that try to copy and utilize the Chinese styles in creating a film. Both Jet Li (Cradle to the Grave, Romeo Must Die, and The One) and Chow Yun Fat (Replacement Killers and Bulletproof Monk) have struggled to make a quality American picture. Though I appreciate their attempts, I prefer Fat's and Li's works in their natural films and culture.

"You really think a lightweight like me did all that damage?"

REVIEW: I was really into the first half of this movie. The combination of Chow Yun-Fat and lots of action seemed like a can't miss combination. That's where the story comes into play. Like I said, the first half was pretty cool but this movie gets stuck in gun fight after gun fight after gun fight. When I saw that this movie set a record for most bullets fired in an American movie, I wasn't surprised. I mean there is literally non-stop action. To the point where when things slow down, they really slow down. There are a couple of gun fights in here that could have been shaved down a bit. Mira Sorvino is an interesting choice and it took a bit for me to get used to.

The opening sequence was just what I was expecting from director Antoine Fuquoa fresh from directing music videos. I recommend this movie to Chow fans and action fans, otherwise, most people might find this movie a bit goofy.
