Anyone else in mcconaughey's role and the movie itself is instantly better...and gets a higher rating on this site.

I thought this was a good, not great movie, with an accurate rep on sports gambling.

good film about greed and what money can do, sometimes the plot is tedious but the performances pull it through

Really the only reason to watch this is for Al Pacino, but the rest of the film doesn't work all that well.

Well the movie everyone has seen, more than just about any movie this year. Somehow it's already grossed more than what Iron Man made after 2 months, and Iron Man did awesome. I'm not sure how I feel about the Dark Knight, on the one hand it was exciting, fun to watch, and pretty smart. The performance by Heath Ledger was pretty damn good, I don't think Oscar worthy like I've heard. However Bale in Batman mode was hard to take every time he growled his lines.

Ultimately it was the least realized and fully gothic Gotham, and yet I still really liked the way it looked, almost more than the first Nolan Batman, however when I saw a sign that said Sweet Home Chicago, I feel like someone was lazy by leaving that in. It was nice to see that it can be sunny, even in Gotham. While not eminently perfect, it is a great film, especially for the summer blockbuster season.

Is it possible to like a movie, but not think it was very good. Don't get me wrong, I don't have much of an erge to watch Two for the Money again, but it was actually alright, for the first half. The movie is about sports betting and I seemingly addiction. It kind've falls flat trying to figure out what the hell it's about after the first hour, but up until that point its pretty fun. Al Pacino is pretty terrible throughout the whole movie though. Autopilot for the paycheck as it were.

I thought when I was a kid I had seen Batman Returns, but after watching it recently I don't think I ever did. It would have been hard not to remember some of the imagery from a film like that, love it or hate it. I really like Michael Keaton, in almost anything so that made me happy, however the plot was ultimately lackluster considering all the stories that could have been used to make a Batman movie. I also didn't like the characterization of the Penguin. He presents more of a gentlemanly facet in the comics and would be much better as a side villain than athe main arch rival of a movie.

The film also feels much more like a Tim Burton film with Batman in it, than a Batman film made by Tim Burton and I think that presents a problem. It can work in a movie like Sleepy Hollow, but with Batman it seemed that the uniquely Burton Art Direction was just too over the top for much of the film.

Burials is a somewhat odd but enjoyable modern western.

In "Two for the Money," six years after blowing out his knee in a conference championship, Brandon Lang(Matthew McConaughey) is at the low end of the food chain working at a 900 call center in Las Vegas, while hoping for a comeback. One day he gets a chance at football picks which he excels at, due to his keeping abreast of the game. Walter Abrams(Al Pacino) notices Brandon's prodigal talent and lures him to New York to work for him in a business advising gamblers in return for 10% of their winnings.

I have always loved watching sports because it is fun(you might feel the same way about participating) but I have never understood the appeal of gambling or even the fantasy leagues. Gambling takes all the fun out of it because money enters the equation which is the central message of "Two for the Money." In an entertaining way, the movie tries to enter the mind of a gambler. Abrams may not think he gambles anymore, but that is exactly how he runs his business, riding Lang's hot streak to success. At the same time, Lang is looking for a father figure in return. Even though there is not a lot of depth to the film, it is still fun watching Pacino and McConaughey, two of the biggest strutting peacocks around today. And it is always nice when Rene Russo has a decent part in a movie.

Mediocre movie about bookmakers with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.
