Great acting and plenty of surprise factor. Woody Allen's best film in my opinion.

plenty to enjoy with crackling performances from all,would loved it if woody had done the over dub but still a joy.

I enjoyed this -- Allen at his best, (though he wasn't in it) and great performances by the cast: Xavier Bardem, Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, (who got the Oscar for best supporting actress).

Vicky Cristina Barcelona is another masterpiece by Woody Allen! The spotlight was taken by, no not Scarlett, or Penelope, but by Rebecca Hall! One word: Fiesty!

The only word to describe this film is Beautiful. The sets beautiful the Writing beautiful and by god the women are beautiful. But i wouldn't really call it funny.

Almost funny, almost controversial, almost worth recommending. But not quite.

Synopsis:Vicky (Rebecca Hall) & Christina (Scarlett Johannsen) summer in Barcelona. With diametrically opposed views on love and life, they fall for the same guy.

Final Analysis: I am a Woody Allen fan. I prefer his comedies to his drama, because the bleakness of his outlook washes better with laughs. This, I was told was a comedy, not so. While there are a few funny moments, this is a drama about the nature of love and how one's approach to the subject cannot change the nature of love. With that said, when I turned this movie off, I was disappointed. 'Melinda & Melinda' disappointed, 'Curse of the Jade Scorpion' disappointed. I felt sad that Woody had already lost his European Muse. But I think, had I watched this expecting a drama, I would have liked. This is a very poignant picture. It is well acted, well directed and overall a very good film. I did sometimes feel that the Vicky (Rebecca Hall) character was trying to channel Woody Allen, as much of her dialog was the neurotic Woody Allen. So at times the dialog seemed very forced and unnatural. Not every discussion can be focused on existentialism. One more negative, while Penelope Cruz is a fine actress, she is not that attractive(She looks like a young Vincent Furnier. I find her hard to look at, like Glenn Close, good actress, tough for me look at). I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes drama .

WORTH RENTING.

Oh my god this movie was hot.

It's about time you made a good film again Woody!
Very enjoyable movie set in Spain, keep it up and you might make another Annie Hall.
