An intriguing concept poorly executed. If the film were to be remade today with better special effects and more believeable dialogue, it would be great. Although it is intended to be funny(?) it delivers most of its humor through the pity one feels after watching it.
Perhaps most importantly, what other horror movie do you know, has its end credits set to "It's My Party"?
That pretty much sums up this film in its entirety.

I did enjoy this movie. It has everything a great B horror film should have. The attractive girl, the crazy yet cheesy gore, the horrible music and the amazing make up and costumes for the monsters. The cast was pretty good and I will say that Zach Galligan did a good job. The movie still needed more though. I mean it was pretty entertaining overall, but some parts just seemed a bit boring.

WAXWORK is a clever film but certainly not a classic in the making. The premise for the film about rich, spoiled college students who are trapped in various time warps filled with killers, zombies, and werewolves is entertaining. The audience does have so slime through less than gory special effects and below par acting but none the less fun B MOVIE ghoulish fun. Try to stomach the STEAK TAR TAR scene with MICHELLE JOHNSON and a B grade DRACULA....euuhhh...'The Sauce makes The Dish'

Stupid, cheesy, 80s horror...but man it had some awesome make-up and costume effects, and the concept and execution of the Waxwork museum was awesome.

I really liked this movie, which for all intents and purposes is a piece of crap.

Where B-movie crosses over to the genuinely viewable.

Waxwork doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should we. This classic 80's go at a wax museum gone wrong has humorous overtones and some engaging special effects for the time.

Zach Galligan (Gremlins) takes on an evil mastermind who has been collecting waxworks made from guests who venture beyond the ropes of the museum. An ancient spell transports the unwary victims to different dimensions as they battle the classic monsters of old.

Werewolves, vampires and zombies abound as Zach reluctantly saves the world with a smirk. Effects are handled by Bob Keen of Alien and Hellraiser fame and they serve to heighten the suspense of a movie full of tongue and cheek humor. You have to love a movie that features the Marquis De Sade as an antagonist.

The movie culminates into a cacophony of good vs. evil as the museum goes up in flames. What waxwork DOESN'T end up in flames? Oh well, there's a sequel that banks on the first movie's success but can't keep with this classic.

Up there with Fright Night for 80's comedy/horror.
