Take Shelter (meaning “to find refuge”) is an American drama film written and directed by Jeff Nichols , released in 2011 .

Synopsis

Curtis LaForche is a young married man with a deaf daughter. He suffers from seemingly delirious troubles, assaulted by visions and dreams of tornadoes , clouds of starlings, violence against him or his family. He wonders why his mother was interned for mental disorders at his age: should he protect his family by devoting his time and money to perfect and expand the shelter against tornadoes in his garden or should he to seek treatment?

Take Shelter receives almost unanimous positive reviews. The aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 92% of the 91 critics gave a positive opinion on the film, with an average of 8.1 / 10 2 . Metacritic aggregator scores 85 out of 100 indicating “positive reviews” 3 .
