The King’s Alley (TV movie)

King’s Alley is a two-part adaptation of Françoise Chandernagor’s novel, directed by Nina Companeez in 1995 .

Synopsis

Inspired by Françoise Chandernagor’s novel of the same name , this two-part TV movie traces Françoise d’Aubigné’s career as Madame de Maintenon . After having quickly presented his early youth, the story takes shape with his marriage with the satirical poet Paul Scarron , and continues until his prodigious rise to the court of Louis XIV , which she became the morganatic wife in 1683 to the forty-eight years old. The work places particular emphasis on the period when she was the governess of the illegitimate children that Madame de Montespanwith the king, as well as his heated relations with the Marquise, who could not bear to see the King attach himself more and more unreasonably to her. The film ends at the time of his death in Saint-Cyr , April 15, 1719.
