The Red Shirts ( Camicie rosse in Italian) is an Italian film directed by Goffredo Alessandrini and Francesco Rosi , released in 1952 .

Synopsis

1849. Coming to support the Pope, the French and Austrian troops put an end to the Republic of Rome . At the head of a group of volunteers, the Red Shirts , Giuseppe Garibaldi ( Raf Vallone ) leaves the city and tries to reach Venice . His wife Anita ( Anna Magnani ) follows him on his journey.
