Synopsis

At the beginning of the film, the radio announces that the last attempt to prevent the collision of the asteroid Matilda with the Earth has failed. In three weeks, its impact will destroy all humanity.

Dodge Petersen and his wife Linda are sitting in the car when they are listening to this information. Then Linda leaves the vehicle without a word and leaves Dodge. The latter returns to his business, where he sells insurance. The premises are almost deserted.

When Dodge returns home, he meets his cleaning lady Elsa, who does not seem to understand that it is useless for her to return to clean her apartment. As she is afraid of being fired, Dodge tells her to forget about her and come back as usual the following week.

He then goes to a party with friends. Sex and alcohol galore are among the solutions adopted by many guests for their last days. Dodge pushes the advances of a young woman and returns home. He remembers an old love, Olivia, when he sees his neighbor Penny Lockhart crying near her window. He thus meets him.
